2. RELIVE THE GALLEON ERA.
Have a free crash course on history at the Public Viewing of Andalucia, a 17th Century Galleon Replica from October 5 to 9 at Pier 13, South Harbor, Manila. Be serenaded with festive music while viewing the Galleon Trade exhibit. You can also buy indigenous arts and crafts at the Creative Trade Fair. Admission is free. 3. LISTEN TO NEW WORLD SYMPHONY.
Listen to the musical styling of the Manila Symphony Orchestra in "A New World" on October 9, 8 p.m. at the Philamlife Auditorium, United Nations Avenue, Ermita, Manila. The concert features Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite and Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 "From the New World." Also catch the Philippine premier of Korngold’s Violin Concerto in D Major with Joseph Esmilla as violin soloist. Celebrate Children’s Month this October with the Philippine Educational Theater Association’s (PETA) Kayang-Kayang Kabayanihan, a series of workshops, performances, and arts activities for children, youth, child educators, artists, and counselors. 6. RUN FOR A GOOD REASON.
Be part of A Run for the Pasig River, a run organized for the restoration of the Pasig River, on October 10, 2010, 5:30 a.m. The event consists of three major starting points--SM Mall of Asia (3K), CCP Complex (5K), and Makati City (10K)--all converging to one finish line at the SM Mall of Asia where a grand celebration will also be held to cap-off the event. 7. COLOR YOUR WORLD.
Have a colorful weekend viewing Caleidoscope, an interior design exhibit presented by the Philippine School of Interior Designe (PSID) Advanced Class of 2010 in cooperation with Eastwood City, which runs until October 31 at G/F Athena Building, Eastwood City, Libis. Marvel at the 18 interior design spaces masterfully executed in living color. Viewing hours is from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
8. FLAG YOUR BETS.
Regions will compete and masters will battle at the Wine Depot’s The Festival 2010 on October 9, 2 to 8 p.m. at the NBC Tent, Taguig City. The wine and food festival will showcase 200 wines from 15 regions, 20 wine makers, 18 food booths, two master classes, two gourmet workshops, one shiraz challenge, and a wine sale. Tickets are P1,000 each and are available at any Wine Depot branch. 9. RUN THE GREEN ROAD.
