10 Fab Places for Fashionistas in Manila
Your guide to the usual haunts of the metro’s most stylish set
(SPOT.ph) You know how they say kids are attracted to anything that glitters? Well, fashionistas are a bit like that. When it's new and there's good food, ahrt-sy ambiance, and the right crowd (by right, we mean either they don't care or accept that you're wearing Nikes with your metallic slip dress), that's where you'll see them armed with 3G and their stylish cliques. But although they love all things shiny, shimmering, and splendid, once they find the right fit, they tend to stick with it-the same way they pick a trend.
Here are the 10 places where you'll catch Manila's style setters.
THE GYM: Fitness First Platinum
Contrary to what you see in the movies, fashionistas don't starve themselves to death. They simply take working out seriously. How else would they fit into those midriff-baring cropped tops and puson-revealing pencil skirts? At the end of the day, the real perennial trend will always, always be a fit bod.
Why here: They have top-of-the-line facilities and the nicest trainers.
Fitness First Platinum is at Levels 5 and 6, SM Aura Premier, 26th Street corner McKinley Parkway, Bonifacio Global City (808-9695). Open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Monday to Friday) 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Saturday and Sunday).
THE MARKET: Salcedo Market
Chill weekend mornings are made up of Cubanos, burritos, fresh basil shopping, a flouncy dress, cat eye sunnies, and a pair of strappy flats. After all, fashionistas are into food as much as they're into fashion.
Why here: It's the perfect venue for weekend mother-daughter bonding.
Salcedo Market is at Jaime C. Velasquez Park, Salcedo Village, Makati City. Open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Saturday and Sunday).
JAPANESE FIX: Mecha Uma
Yohji Yamamoto is not the only Japanese in a fashion girl's vocab. They need their sushi and sake fix, too.
Why here: If you have a discerning tongue that won't settle for just the regular Jap food, Chef Bruce Ricketts' mouth-watering, well-plated menu should be something to add to your where-to-eat list. Of course, the most stylish would only recommend the best.
Mecha Uma is at G/F RCBC Savings Bank Corporate Tower, 25th and 26th Street, Bonifacio Global City (801-2770). Open from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. (daily except Tuesday).
SPA: The Spa
After a long day of shopping, a spa is a good place to let the limbs chill. For an all-girls session, you can opt for a short sauna stint or enjoy much-needed pampering through the expert hands of a masseuse.
Why here: If the goal is to relax, then here’s a spot that has been tried and tested over the years. Cleanliness and ambience is key, and plus points for having the perfect after-massage tea.
The Spa is at B8 Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City (856-5858, 856-6868, 0917-580-1364). Open from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., last call at 8:30 p.m. (Monday to Thursday); 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., last call at 9:30 p.m. (Friday to Sunday).

Talk of a place so Instagrammable, and you'll see, the fashionistas will flock. From their medicine cabinets and wooden stools to the overall diner feel, Farmacy is the perfect spot for both an OOTD and a foodstagram.
Why here: If you loved Wildflour's cronuts, then you're sure to go crazy over the dessert bar's fizzy sodas and fresh ice cream flavors made at the store daily.

FRIDAY NIGHT ROUTINE: Valkyrie at The Palace
Fashionistas who can last the whole day in their five-inch steppers can surely dance all night in them, too.
Why here: If you need to let loose but you're picky with the crowd, check out the hottest new spot in town, Valkyrie-at least that's what it is now before a newer club opens.
Valkyrie is at The Palace, 9th Avenue corner 36th Street, Uptown Bonifacio, Bonifacio Global City (0917-680-8888).
TEA TIME: TWG
The titas and titas-to-be of Manila's idea of a hang? Tea time, of course! After all, this is the realization of those playtime tea parties they used to throw with their dolls as kids.
Why here: Photogenic macarons are best devoured with only the finest harvests and tea blends from across the globe.

Toby’s Estate has branches at Leviste Street, Makati City; Century City Mall, Makati City; Bonifacio Global City; and SM Aura Premier.
DATE PLACE: The Tasting Room
It's a Michelin-starred restaurant where you can dress up with your beau for a special occasion (ehem, V-Day).
