4 Travel Terms Everyone Should Know
Keep these words in mind, especially if you're a first-time traveler.
The key to a perfect vacation is preparing ahead and planning well, so here are a couple of terms used in traveling that will help you come up with the ideal plan and itinerary for your upcoming—and we daresay—much-needed R&R.
All travelers dream of a stress-free vacation. No one wants to deal with sky-high hotel prices during peak season or a nasty weather during off-peak days, which is why shoulder season is considered a blessing by most travelers. Shoulder season is that time when the destinations are as beautiful as they are during peak season minus the crowd and high rates. In the Philippines, shoulder seasons fall on May, October, and November. Consider booking your trips on these months so you can enjoy your destination while scoring great deals at the same time.
Sometimes, people tend to book airfares because they were advertised as super cheap only to get shocked in the end with the hidden charges that come with it. Avoid this stressful situation by making sure that you book fares that are "all-in."
All-in fares are already inclusive of additional charges like the processing fee (others call it the web admin fee), airport terminal fees, and country-specific taxes so that you won’t get confused with the amount that you have to pay. Note that the Philippine travel tax is usually not yet included in the computation of all-in fares and should not be confused with the airport terminal fee.
Remember: Some cheap airfares are often too good to be true so always be cautious and smart when booking.
Frequent flyer program
Companies come up with different gimmicks to ensure that their customers remain loyal. One of the best examples is the frequent flyer program.
Just like purchasing in malls or grabbing a cup of coffee from your favorite coffee shop earns you points, being enrolled in a frequent flyer program gives you credits or better known as "miles." If you earn enough miles, one of the perks is you get to fly for free. So if you travel a lot via plane, better contact your favorite airline now and ask them how you can become a frequent flyer program member.
Remember: Sayang ang miles.
When traveling, choosing the perfect accommodation is just as important as booking the most practical airfare. There are numerous lodging facilities available in the market nowadays, but hotels are always the top choice. Hotels are commercial establishments that provide serviced accommodations to all types of travelers, from backpackers to business travelers. Various hotel types have sprung up over the years such as luxury, full service, boutique, and economy. Regardless of their choice of hotel, guests can look forward to a selection of facilities, amenities, and services to make their stay as comfortable and convenient as possible.
