(SPOT.ph) While we can enjoy scary movies and thriller books all year, we still await some of the most memorable events that Halloween bring us. Costume parties? Big yes! Ghost hunts? Count us in! Big fans of the season are in for a treat this 2019 as Haunted Manila Festival is set to run from October 26 to 31 at the Filinvest City Event Grounds in Muntinlupa City. For six nights, you can celebrate Halloween the best way Filipinos can: A dose of local mythologies (a.k.a. manananggal and tiyanak), a scenario of the zombie apocalypse, and lots of music and dancing.
Outbreak Manila, the country's biggest zombie run, starts at 9 p.m. on October 26. Make sure to outrun zombies who are after your brains (kidding—just your three belt flags) through the whole five-kilometer stretch.
You can also challenge yourself through Breakout Philippines' Haunted Escape Rooms and live through the nightmare of being stuck in the same place as white ladies, manananggals, and kapres. But you can take things further and find your way out of Festival Mall after dark through the Scavenger Haunt on October 27, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Classic Pinoy horror movies are up for screening from October 27 to 30 at Pelikulagim, Haunted Manila Festival's very own open-air cinema. And in case you get hungry, there’s Gayuma Food Bazaar—don't worry, it's gayuma-free. Game booths are also available to make sure you never get bored during the six-night event.
Finally, the week-long festival culminates with the Santelmo Halloween Music Party where 14 OPM bands—including Up Dharma Down, December Avenue, and The Ransom Collective—are out to make sure you celebrate All Hallows' Eve with music and dancing.
Haunted Manila Festival runs from October 26 to 31 at Filinvest City Event Grounds, Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
