(SPOT.ph) The Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases announced on June 1 that residents and workers from NCR Plus (Metro Manila, Laguna, Rizal, Cavite, and Bulacan) can travel again for leisure. While they announced that only travelers below 18 and above 65 years old need an RT-PCR test, it is still the local government unit's decision to ultimately require the test for everyone heading to their provinces. But if you're worried about the costs, the Tourism Promotions Board announced on June 2 that the processing and endorsement of applications for the 50% RT-PCR test subsidy to the Philippine Children's Medical Center and the University of the Philippines - Philippine General Hospital will resume. This means that testing fees are reduced to P750 and P900 at both hospitals, respectively.

Filipinos and foreigners residing in the Philippines qualify for the subsidy. Just make sure that you're scheduled to depart from June 4 to 15. Travelers whose flights were rescheduled may send their updated flight itineraries and hotel confirmation bookings to phtravel@tpb.gov.ph for University of the Philippines - Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) or phtravel_pcmc@tpb.gov.ph for Philippine Children's Medical Center (PCMC).

The subsidized testing is subject to availability of slots per day, which is at 150 approved applicants for UP-PGH, acording to Tourism Promotions Board's (TPB) memo. New applicants may register through TPB's website. Just make sure to have your  two government-issued IDs, confirmed hotel booking, and roundtrip transportation tickets ready.
