UPDATED: Traveling to Siargao? You Still Need a COVID Test If You're Fully Vaccinated
Here are the updated travel requirements for Siargao as of July 8.
(SPOT.ph) UPDATED, July 8 (4:30 p.m.)—The Inter-Agency Task Force announced on July 5 that fully vaccinated individuals—including senior citizens—may now travel for leisure without having to present a negative COVID-19 test. The policies for interzonal movement (a.k.a. traveling to areas with a different quarantine classification) are still upon the final decision of the local government concerned.
Baguio City was the first to adopt this updated entry protocol, citing full-dose vaccination cards or certificates as a requirement. Surigao del Norte followed suit and issued an updated travel protocol on July 7 for leisure travelers, saying that fully vaccinated travelers may present their vaccination cards in lieu of negative COVID-19 test results. However, on July 8, the provincial government retracted the announcement following the Inter-Agency Task Force's reversal of the new policy.
Based on the Municipality of General Luna's announcement, Governor Lalo Matugas issued "Seventh Supplement/Amendment to EO No. 21-010, s. 2021 which provides, to wit:
- "Due to the change of policy of IATF as announced by its Chairman, Secretary Francisco T. Duque III, as regards USAGE OF COVID-19 VACCINATION CARD and CERTIFICATE OF QUARANTINE as substitute for the negative result on COVID-19 Swab/Saliva RT-PCR Test, Memorandum Order No. 21-151, s. 2021, Sixth Supplement and/or Amendment to EO No. 21-010, s. 2021 was RECALLED until further orders; and
- "Mandatory requirements and protocols for all travellers going to this Province, as stated in the Fifth Supplement and/or Amendment to EO No. 21-010, s. 2021, are reinstated.
Here are the updated Siargao travel requirements (as of July 8) for local visitors:
- Negative COVID-19 Test Result (swab or saliva) taken 48 within 48 hours of travel
- Valid ID
- Confirmed booking of Department of Tourism-accredited hotel/resort/hostel for at least two nights
