(SPOT.ph) Halloween is creeping closer, and if your idea of spooky season involves more than haunted houses and horror movie marathons, there’s a new theater experience worth adding to your October plans.
Enter The Discotheque Massacre, an upcoming production that promises to blur the line between audience and actor. Instead of sitting safely in the dark and watching the horror unfold onstage, you’ll find yourself right in the middle of it—all while holding a drink and dancing the night away.

What you need to know about The Discotheque Massacre by Oro Teatro
Happening on October 17 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Quezon City, The Discotheque Massacre turns an undisclosed secret nightclub into the setting of a modern-day reimagining of Edgar Allan Poe's Gothic short story, The Tell-Tale Heart.
This one-night-only show ditches the traditional stage setting and instead immerses the audience, with actors on the dance floor and a drink in hand, as both spectators and part of the story of paranoia, guilt, and the descent into insanity unraveling throughout the night.
In this version of The Tell-Tale Heart, playwright and director Nathania Kuy brings the Gothic fiction classic to a club setting, complete with live DJ performances and drinks, to tell a story of guilt and obsession consuming a person from the inside. But instead of having a singular storyteller, this unique theatrical rendition will show the unraveling psyche through three personas representing reason, morality, and impulse, mingling with the audience on the dance floor for a deeply immersive experience.
Taking inspiration from timeless Gothic horror—and setting the story in a secret club—sounds like something Edgar Allan Poe would do if he lived in our time. After all, the iconic American writer and poet is a favorite of those who love all things mysterious and macabre. Definitely perfect for the Halloween season, if you ask us!
