After 10 Years, Modern Speakeasy Bank Bar Closes Its Doors

(SPOT.ph) Okay, this one hurts—our backs as much as our hearts, if we're being totally honest. After 10 years, Bank Bar announces that its secret door will close forever on December 27, 2025.

"While it is the end of an era, reaching this milestone feels like the natural point to conclude the Bank Bar story," so says their statement released on Instagram. "It's been an incredible decade, and we're so grateful to everyone who made this place feel alive."

One of BGC's few literal hidden gems, this star from The Moment Group will be remembered as the site of any number of fondly remembered (and less-than-fond;y, knowing what goes down in any city after 11 p.m.) frolics and drink discoveries—and over the years, local city dwellers who 'just know' aren't the only ones who enjoyed this place.

Lest we forget, this hush-hush haunt made it to a CNN's list of "7 of the world's most intruiguing speakeasies," published in 2016. Alongside bars from New York, Los Angeles, and Hong Kong, what took the spotlight was the Nutter Club, a cocktail made with London dry gin, lemon pistachio meringue, Angostura bitters, and a pistachio salt rim.

And there's just no good drinking without good eating—at least, not if you know what you're doing. 2017 saw the introduction of Bank Bar's Happily Hour After deal, which served the dual purpose of celebrating the joys of happy hour and the bar's indubitably curated menu. Drinks were known to pair well with the Crisp Porchetta, the Ika Yaki Balls, Nori, and Katsuobushi, or the Truffle Skinny Fries (of course).

Such has been their prowess in both bites and beverages that food crawls and pub crawls alike tended to start or end behind the little door in the back of that particular 7-Eleven. But even great things have an expiration date, and Bank Bar invites the public to welcome such an end on a high note: "Before we say goodbye, we hope you'll stop by for one last drink and help us toast to the moments that made this ride unforgettable."
