It’s Official: Bacha Coffee's First Philippine Branch is Now Open

(SPOT.ph) We all get our coffee in different forms, which is, more often than not, based on our spending capacity. Some swear by 3-in-1 sachets, others grab their fix from convenience stores or fast-food chains, and those willing to splurge can enjoy luxury brands like Bacha Coffee.

You might have seen these coffee bags in its distinct orange-and-gold packaging when you're exploring North Africa, or maybe inside Singapore, Hong Kong, and Malaysia's airports while waiting for your flight boarding announcement. But here’s the exciting part: You don’t need to book an international flight anymore, or even ask for a pasabuy, because Bacha Coffee just opened its first standalone store in the Philippines.

Bacha Coffee is a luxury coffee brand founded in Marrakech, Morocco, in 1910. More specifically, the history has its roots in the historic Dar el Bacha palace (hence the name), where political and cultural figures—think writers, composers, filmmakers, and even presidents and prime ministers—gathered over glimmering pots of "Arabia" coffee, or Arabica, as it is known today.

It was closed for over 60 years after World War II, but was reopened after years of restoration efforts in its original location. Now, it has branches all over the world: France, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Kuwait, Macau, Mainland China, Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Taiwan, and, of course, Morocco.

Now, the Philippines has been added to its directory, with its first local outpost landing at Greenbelt 3 in Makati City, strategically placed right beside other luxury brands like Louis Vuitton.

Bacha Coffee's kiosk at Greenbelt 3 offers a limited selection of their signature drip coffees, which are available for takeaway—served on a very on-brand drink carrier, no less. For the homebrewers, you can’t exactly walk away empty-handed, as they have whole beans (or ground to your liking) for sale, too.

If you're new to Bacha Coffee, its bestsellers are the signature coffee blends of 1910 (a reference to the year it was founded), a medium roast with bright fruity notes, and the Milano Morning, a medium roast with rich chocolate and nutty undertones. Prices start at USD $13.50 or P784 (based on the official website) for 100 grams of whole beans, but the coffee can also be ground depending on your preferred brewing method, from Turkish and metal filter to espresso. Naturally, the more premium the beans and the larger the quantity, the higher the price tag.
