A Buttersweet Goodbye: Butterboy’s Quezon City Branch Is Now Closed

(SPOT.ph) Just because an establishment is closing doesn't always mean it's gone forever. Such as in the bittersweet case of Butterboy—the place to be for flaky croissants, drag queens, and death drops, the bakery is closing its Quezon City branch to make way for a bigger, butter future.

In an Instagram post by Butterboy, the bakery announced the closure of its first-ever branch at 81 Basa in Quezon City, the dine-in service of which breathed its last on January 4.

Reflecting on the decision, the bakery traced how far it has come since starting business in 2021. “Over the years, Butterboy has grown beyond what we ever imagined,” the team shared. What began as an online business with a weekend café—fueled by passion and the steady support of its community—has since evolved into a brand ready for its next chapter.

The decision for its closure, the bakery shared, comes as the brand enters a new era of growth. “Butterboy continues to grow, and we’ve reached a point where we need to focus on building and expanding Butterboy for the future,” the post read. Closing 81 Basa, they added, allows the team to “realign and strengthen our operations, preparing us for bigger opportunities ahead.”

But before anyone spirals, Butterboy promises "new spaces, new ideas, and better ways to serve more people," as the Instagram post states. And this begins with filling that croissant-shaped hole in your heart with a good temporary fix: You can place orders for pickup at Butterboy's new branch starting January 9. Otherwise, you can still catch Butterboy at their other existing branches at SM Mall of Asia, SM North EDSA, and SM San Lazaro.

As the post puts it: “This is not a goodbye, but a step forward. Thank you for being part of our journey so far. We’re excited for what’s coming next, and we can’t wait to grow with you.”
