(SPOT.ph) We're still very much on a high from the recent Michelin happenings, and it seems the celebration's far from done. Over in the U.S., which has its own editions of the Michelin Guide for different parts of the country, two Stars were just awarded to Chicago's modern Filipino establishment Kasama.

Kasama Chicago earns two Michelin Stars

Kasama became a Michelin Star holder for the first time as they earned one Michelin Star back in 2022. Fast forward to 2025, the restaurant owned by Timothy Flores and Genie Kwon is among the four restaurants in the Guide's 2025 Chicago edition to receive two Michelin Stars, signifying they have "excellent cooking that is worth a detour."

Kasama, whose name means "together" in Filipino, brings together Flores and Kwon's individual stories and respective strengths, the Guide writes. "Flores's background provides inspiration for this modern interpretation of Filipino cuisine, while Kwon’s pastry training elevates the sweet side of things."

"In a simple space, the two cook with striking originality. Homey traditional preparations are reimagined in elegant, inventive ways, as in an 'adobo' of mussels and wild mushrooms that balances tangy, sweet and savory. Bold, original sauces like peanut with shrimp paste have few equals. Desserts, like a 'mais con yelo' that features sweet corn semifreddo and milk granita, are every bit as satisfying."

The news was unveiled at a ceremony for the Guide's Northeast Cities editions, held at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia on November 18.
