Deuces Coffee is Closing its OG Branch in Makati City

(SPOT.ph) Plenty of things in this world refuse to make sense. Exhibit A: the usual suspects keep landing government posts. Exhibit B: Metro Manila’s constantly growing number of buildings and a seeming allergic reaction to open spaces. And Exhibit C: our favorite cafes closing shop. Like Deuces Coffee. This just in: its Perea branch is parting ways with its regulars. A goodbye made more painful by how sudden and unexpected it is.

In an Instagram post, Deuces Coffee announced they're closing their branch in Perea Street in Legazpi Village—the café's first ever branch. It opened back in 2022, and now this OG branch is closing its doors with its last day on March 8, 2026 (that's this weekend!). The announcement was accompanied by the first episode of a three-part video series entitled "The Cards You’re Dealt."

The first episode is called "The Hand You’re Given," which gives a background on how the neighborhood café started, narrated by its founders, Richelle Labrusca and Julie Terrei.

If you're one of those wondering why they would close when it's always packed, the video hints at a hopeful—and bigger—next chapter. To get the lowdown, SPOT.ph reached out to the cafe.

“Over the past few years, we’ve grown significantly—especially with the launch of Roastery Lab, where we roast our own beans and focus more deeply on training and quality," said their message to Spot. "With that growth came clarity. We realized the next chapter needed to reflect who we are now. So instead of simply updating Perea, we’re choosing to transform it into something more intentional, more refined, and aligned with where we’re headed.”

As for what’s next, they added: “We’re also opening a new branch this March.” Where exactly, they’re not spilling the tea just yet—so for now, we’ll have to keep our eyes peeled for the announcement.

But, before we move on to the next chapter, we should give the OG branch a proper goodbye—which it so rightfully deserves. Deuces Coffee is throwing a farewell party at their Perea branch, but naturally, on March 8, the final day, starting at 3 p.m. Expect coffee, of course, plus food and music to make the goodbye a little easier on our hearts.
