(SPOT.ph) We all flock to a new spot like moths to a flame. A new mall? Now that's a huge deal, because it means there's not just one, two, but a whole lot of things to see, do, and, of course, eat. Ayala Malls Arca South is the new kid on the block; Ayala Malls' efforts to provide a public space that integrates into the "everyday life of the community."
Anchored in that same belief, the new mall is designed as an open, layered environment that feels more seamless and connected, with key spaces that will serve as avenues for people to gather and stay in. Take, for example, Main Street, an outdoor, breathable green space (one that's hard to come by in the metro) where people can just sit down and take a pause. It's a mixed-use space that can be bustling with food trucks, stalls, and even make way for pop-ups and programs in between. Going to and from different places, too, is made effortless and possible with its terminal hub, the Arca South Transport Terminal.

A little bit of this and that about the new exciting mall aside, the Arca South is also where good bites come together. Since Arca South is still fresh, some corners are not yet unveiled, but here's a handful of cafes that are already opening their doors to welcome the crowd in the area, sprinkled around a dedicated coffee roastery zone in the Arca South called Fresh Grounds. For cuisine that hails from different parts of the country, and even the world, there's the Kulinarya Food Hall. It's also a single, open dining space that is designed for communal meals.
Whether a meetup point or the whole destination, check out the cafes and other food spots you should tick off your "must-try at Arca South" list. This will be updated as more restaurants open in the area.
Ahon Coffee
What are they known for: From Antipolo, Taytay, then to Taguig—Ahon Coffee's fresh brews made with 100% local Philippine coffee beans are now a step closer to you. The pandemic gave birth to this popular coffee stop, with the Antipolo branch offering not just refreshments and good food, but also fresh, scenic views of the city. It's known as the perfect chill stop for commuters and bikers, now offering respite in the bustling Metro.
JB Kopitiam
What are they known for: JB Kopitiam (kopitiam: meaning coffee shop in Hokkien and Malay) offers an authentic taste of Malaysia and Singapore in their cups of joe and bites. No need for a passport if you're one to crave Malaysian and Singaporean flavors. On their food menu are Nasi Lemak and Hainanese Chicken, among others.
Saigon Coffee
What they're known for: Nothing beats Vietnam when it comes to coffee, and Saigon Coffee PH brings the whole experience to the Philippines. They have two locations in the country so far, one in Ayala Malls Cloverleaf (their flagship store) and now, in Arca South. It's located smack dab in the middle of Fresh Grounds. Try their Salted Coffee, Egg Cream Coffee, and even Orange Coffee, which are brewed using a traditional phin filter and 100% Vietnamese Highlands Coffee Beans.
Starbucks
What they're known for: A worldwide popular American coffee chain. For familiar mixes and desserts, this is your best stop. You can also get your fill of the brand's merchandise, like tumblers, mugs, and cold cups, among others, inside the space.
The Matcha Tokyo
What they're known for: Everything and anything matcha. Be it as a latte, smoothie, lemonade, or even as a sweet treat that comes in the form of ice cream. The Matcha Tokyo has them all. They use 100% organic, premium Japanese matcha, which makes their offerings the perfect balance between healthy and indulgent.
Caramia
What they're known for: We all need sweetness in our lives, and if you're the kind of Tita who doesn't mind it too sweet, Caramia can also be found in the area. This dessert brand has premium gelato on its menu, like the Pistachio, Chocolate Therapy, and Cookies & Cream. They are also behind popular cakes like the Classic Ube Cake, Caramella Bella, and Pistaccio Cioccolato.
PICKUP Coffee
What they're known for: PICKUP Coffee is scattered across the Metro, and one of those spots is in the new Arca South. Those in and around the new mall can now get their affordable brews at the bright, pastel green coffee truck inside Fresh Grounds.
