The First-Ever Gordon Ramsay Idiot Sandwich Pop-Up is Now Open

"An idiot sandwich."

If that meme has lived rent-free on the internet (and in your head) for years, it has now officially become something you can eat. The time has finally come.

The world’s first Idiot Sandwich pop-up is now open at Uptown Mall in Taguig City.

Designed like a food truck, the first-ever Idiot Sandwich activation is parked along Uptown Mall's pavement—specifically right across Randy’s Donuts. The menu features five sandwiches, all drawn from its namesake cookbook, Idiot Sandwich: 100+ Recipes to Elevate Your Sandwich Game.

There's the Pastrami Sandwich (P695) has these distinct pretel buns—darker in color, dense in texture—stuffed with ribbons of pastrami, a slather of white cheddar, and the powerful flavors of sauerkraut and horseradish mixed in. Another sandwich that doesn't shy from having bold flavors is the Tonkatosu Cubano (P475): a sandwich made with a Kaisser Roll stuffed with a thin pork katsu, slices of ham, spicy kimchi, miso, and white cheddar.

For a lighter, fresher option, there's the Fish, No Chips (P365), which uses potato buns instead to hug the deep-fried white fish and has avocado, butterhead lettuce, and green goddess dressing. Then there's the Classic Ham & Cheese Toastie (P355), which is a long sandwich with ham and cheese, served with a spicy honey dip.

But if we were to play favorites—or if you were to ask what sandwich to try first, it's Chicken Breakfast Club (P495). This sandwich uses a crisp, airy croissant slathered with a herby basil mayonnaise inside, then stuffed with an overflowing amount of herbed chicken breast, crisp bacon, and a sunny-side-up egg. And then order the Chocolate Peanut Butter Whoopie Ice Cream Pie (P260) for dessert, which is whoopie cookies (think thin, moist chocolate cake) stuffed with an inch-thick layer of velvety chocolate ice cream.

The Idiot Sandwich pop-up will run for three months, from May 15 to August 16, and is open daily from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. at Uptown Mall, Taguig. This is an al-fresco setup offering a limited number of seats and tables for those who want to linger over dinner or make it a post-work hangout.

The opening is being celebrated with a promo that gives participants the chance to dine at Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill Philippines and win a chef’s jacket personally signed by Gordon Ramsay himself.
