This Highly-Rated French Resto in Makati Offers Unli Steaks + Sides for P1,900
Maybe it's time you picanha someone your own size?

(SPOT.ph) One upon a (distant, distant) time, we might have believed in and preached that too much of a good thing is bad. If we've ever said something to that effect, we rescind it, with great dramatics even—mostly because there are few things we love more than the words "unlimited steaks at Le Feu." (ICYMI: We loved it enough to put in our list of 50 Great Restaurants of 2024.)
For P1,900, the beloved steakhouse at Hotel Celeste offers a daily lunch special from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., which gets you the dinner rolls (don't sleep on these); the Soup of the Day; salad; unlimited sides; and, of course, your pick of unlimited ribeye or picanha steaks.

Don't get us wrong, we love a good ribeye. Literally from the rib part of the cow, its fat marbling and lightly worked state tends to make it an ideal cut in terms of both flavor and tenderness—for the uninitiated, the general rule is that fat doesn't necessarily contribute to flavor, but you do need some to keep a cut moist. There's a reason she's so popular.
That said, the picanha—known also as top sirloin, rump cap, or culotte (because the French just had to)—derives its name from the stick with which Brazilian cowboys or gauchos would herd them, poking or smacking around that rump area of the cow. It's worked about as much as the ribeye, but has a generous fat cap that all but demands a generous sprinkling of flaky sea salt.

Side dishes as good as the steaks
Whichever cut you end up going with will still be the right choice, of course; it comes down to preference and, perhaps, a sense of adventure. But the thing that sets Le Feu apart from the usual steakhouse archetype is that chef Kevin Villarica opened with no intention of serving 'meh' side dishes. "They had to be on par with the steak to better support it," he shared in conversation with Spot.ph.
It's something you can't help but notice. You can opt for the Steak Rice, which obviously sports a savory second layer of beefy goodness; Mashed Potatoes for that classic Sunday lunch feel any day of the week; Aglio Olio, for garlicky mop-up-the-fat goodness; or the Truffle Cream Corn (new to us, admittedly) for a touch of extra richness.
