(SPOT.ph) We all got introduced to the glorious golden, flaky croffle (croissant-waffle, if you live under a rock) when it became a viral food trend in South Korea back in the early 2020s—during the pandemic, when food trends come and go. Still, it continues to grow in popularity in other countries.
In Malaysia, there's Chunk and Dunk, a popular croffle shop with its iconic bubblegum pink 50s diner aesthetic. With five branches dotting its home base, it's finally branching out internationally, with its first stop in the Philippines.
Malaysia's Chunk and Dunk Opens in the Philippines
Chunk and Dunk is set to open its first international branch in the Philippines this coming April. As of writing, there's no information as to when and where exactly it's setting up shop, but whenever and wherever it is, we're crossing our fingers that we're getting a cute physical shop with the same retro aesthetic, their bestselling croffles, and, we can't help but manifest a few Philippine-exclusive flavors, too.
Chunk and Dunk has plain croffles because sometimes you want to taste the buttery, flaky base that made the hype make sense in the first place. But if you want to lean more towards dessert, their menu does allow customization with topping options like Bueno Bueno, Lotus Biscoff, and Callebaut 823 Milk Chocolate for those with a sweet tooth.
Hopefully, they bring over their Shaved Ice lineup, too—because let’s be honest, this country operates on three settings: hot, hotter, and hottest. Think of this like a Korean bingsu: finely shaved ice available in flavors like chocolate, avocado, Thai tea, and lychee. Similar to the croffles, you can choose to have toppings like chocolates, nuts, fruits, cookies, and sauces.
