Salady, Korea's Biggest Salad Chain, Opens in the Philippines

(SPOT.ph) If you've been to South Korea recently, you'd know that they're as obsessed with their bap (rice) as they are with their salad meals—and we're not just talking about vegetables as banchan (sides). It has been that way for the last few years, and the best example? Salady, South Korea’s largest salad franchise, has over 300 stores in Korea offering a variety of salad wraps and bowls.

Salady's next move? It's clearly growing outside of its home court. With branches already scattered across the globe (like in the U.S. and Taiwan), the Korean salad chain is further expanding by opening a store in the Philippines.

Starting the year strong, Salady's first branch in the Philippines opened in the first half of January at SM Megamall—right on the fifth level of Mega Fashion Hall. The space offers comfortable dine-in options, making it less of a grab-and-go and more of a place where you can actually sit down and enjoy your salad.

On the menu, Salady leans into modern Korean-inspired comfort that's turned into a salad bowl or a salad wrap. A great example is the Bulgogi Bibim Grain Bowl, which starts with a hearty base of grains and vegetables, then piles on savory bulgogi, mushrooms, seaweed, nuts, red cabbage, and fried and raw onions before finishing everything with a light drizzle of oriental dressing. You can also go with the Bulgogi Soba Bowl, which swaps half the grains for buckwheat noodles and tops it with tender beef loin, crunchy cabbage, onions, nuts, and the same sesame dressing.

As for bestsellers, the Mexican Wrap is the crowd favorite for a reason. Think salad, but wrapped like a burrito and unapologetically fun—packed with vegetables, ground beef, crunchy chips, sour cream, and creamy chili dressing. And if commitment issues apply to salad toppings too, Salady lets you build your own wrap or bowl, exactly how you want it.

Salady's SM Megamall branch is the first one in the Philippines, and hopefully not the last, especially now that Filipinos are finally realizing that salads don’t have to be sad or overpriced side dishes pretending to be a meal.
