You won’t have to go all the way to SM Podium for your churros fix anymore, as Madrid’s beloved chocolatería is expanding—and its next home is closer than you think.

San Ginés Philippines has been teasing a “second home” on its social media pages over the last few days, with the big reveal set for September 18. Naturally, churro lovers were all over it, with several fans flooding the comment section with guesses and suggestions for where the next branch might pop up.
Now, the secret is out: your next San Ginés fix will be at Power Plant Mall Rockwell, bringing its Spanish-style sweet treats to another busy corner of Metro Manila.
"Honestly, the [Rockwell] community is well-traveled and has a palate for international cuisine. [Power Plant Mall] is also one of the most nostalgic malls; [it’s] comfortable and has a great surrounding neighborhood for families,” said Shaan Chainani, CEO of San Ginés Philippines.
Before revealing its newest home, San Ginés decided to have a little fun and keep its fans guessing. After all, sometimes the best way to get people talking is to give them just enough of a clue to pique their curiosity.
A cheeky “FRYING SOON…” sign at the upcoming Rockwell branch did exactly that, leaving Filipino foodies wondering what was cooking—or, in this case, frying—behind the doors. And yes, according to Shaan Chainani, that was the whole point: to get people excited about the brand while stirring up a few questions along the way.
The timing couldn’t be sweeter, either: the Rockwell branch is expected to open in late November, just as the holiday season gets into full swing. Keep an eye out for more details on the menu, operating hours, and more.
With roots in Madrid, San Ginés has built a following around a seriously irresistible pairing: golden churros dunked into velvety hot chocolate. Its Asian flagship store on the ground floor of SM Podium in Mandaluyong City, which opened just this April, was met with plenty of love. So bringing its signature churros con chocolate to another part of Metro Manila feels like a natural next step… and obviously, we’re here for it!
