South Korea's Compose Coffee Is Coming to the Philippines

(SPOT.ph) Compose Coffee was founded in South Korea in 2014, and a decade later, it’s grown to become one of the country’s most popular coffee chains with—no big deal—over 3,000 branches to its name. Its first step outside its home turf was in Singapore, and now, it’s eyeing a new market: the Philippines.

Compose Coffee’s move to open in the Philippines makes sense—especially for a country that relies on caffeine to function on a daily basis. And that daily-caffeine lifestyle lines up neatly with their affordable selection of drinks that balances no-frills staples like the Americano (the staple prop of every K-drama and K-variety show) alongside a lineup of creative, flavorful lattes. In other words, it caters to both the purists who just want their caffeine hit, and those who like their coffee sweet but "hindi masyadong matamis."

Tea fans, especially matcha lovers, should be excited because three of Compose Coffee's bestsellers are tea-forward. There's the Strawberry Cream Matcha Latte, a creamy and milky matcha drink with strawberries; Jeju Matcha Mango Latte, a citrusy matcha drink inspired by the Jeju island; and Ashatchu, a combination of peach iced tea with an espresso shot.

As for K-pop fans, part of Compose Coffee’s buzz can be traced back to its limited-edition V Composed lineup in 2024. This was a collaboration with V of BTS, which featured three drinks—Lychee Alegro, Yuja Staccato, and Dolce Serenade.

The expansion is being led by Jollibee Group (JFC), which has secured the franchise rights to bring the Korean coffee giant to the Philippines—adding yet another international brand to its ever-expanding portfolio.

As for the timeline, there’s still no confirmed opening date for Compose Coffee in the Philippines—and just as intriguingly, no official word on where the first branch will be and what drinks will be included on the menu. For now, Compose Coffee’s local debut is confirmed, but the details remain under wraps. We'll keep you updated either way, Spotters.
