Hong Kong’s Famous TamJai Mixian Noodle Chain Opens in the Philippines

(SPOT.ph) When looking for comfort, Hong Kongers find solace in noodles of all kinds—noodle soups in particular are a favorite with their warm, soothing broth. TamJai Mixian, one of Hong Kong’s most popular noodle chains, is finally bringing its famous bowls of noods to the Philippines, just in time for the nippy weather as of late.

TamJai Mixian is a noodle house founded in Hong Kong back in 1996. They have several branches in their home court, but this noodle chain has also expanded to the likes of Mainland China, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, Australia, and, more recently, the Philippines. A cult favorite for spice lovers, it’s now open on the ground floor of BGC Corporate Center 2 along 5th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City.

They're best known for their mixian—Yunnan-style rice noodles that have a round shape and silky texture, often served in tongue-tingling broths. There are set “specialty” combinations on the menu, but diners can also go the DIY route and build their own bowl with their choice of soup base, spice level, and toppings.

TamJai Mixian offers a range of soup bases, though the real stars are the spicy broths. They're customizable by 10 heat levels so you can adjust to your own tolerance... or how much you want to test your own Scoville limits. Your dish can be made more filling with your choice of meats, tofu for plant-based meat alternatives, and vegetables.

Don't worry if you can't handle any heat. TamJai Mixian does have non-spicy broth options on the menu—plus rice bowl choices.
