(SPOT.ph) The 2028 national elections may seem far away, but they'll be here before you know it. If you haven't registered to vote yet, now's a good time to start thinking about it because voter registration is opening soon.
According to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), nationwide voter registrations will resume on November 10, 2026 until July 30, 2027 in preparation for the May 2028 national and local elections. That’s eight months to get your documents in order to prepare for one of our most important civic duties as Filipino citizens.
To register, visit any Office of the Election Officer (OEO) in your area from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday to Friday. Registration may also be held on Saturdays and holidays, depending on announcements from your local OEO.
COMELEC will also conduct satellite registrations in malls and through its Register Anywhere Program (RAP), so keep an eye on its official social media pages for updates. Through RAP, applicants can register at designated locations outside their city or municipality of residence without having to visit their local OEO.

COMELEC requirements for voter’s registration
It’s not too late to be a first-time voter! Here's a step-by-step guide for the upcoming voter registration:
Visit COMELEC's iRehistro website
Choose "Application Forms"
Fill out the CEF-1 online form
Print the CEF-1 on a long bond paper back-to-back. Do not sign or affix your thumbmark on the application forms just yet since this must be done in the presence of the Election Officer
Bring the physical CEF-1 form and a valid government ID with signature on your visit to the local COMELEC office or RAP site
Accepted valid IDs include the PhilSys National Identification ID, PWD or Senior Citizen ID, driver’s license, passport, and student ID. You can visit the COMELEC website for the full list.
Accomplishing the online form does not automatically register you as a voter. According to the COMELEC website, you need to bring three copies of your printed application form along with the original and photocopy of your chosen ID with you when you make a personal appearance at the OEO or RAP site. There, they will capture your biometrics to complete the filing process.
You must conduct your biometrics capture before July 30, 2027 to be considered a registered voter for 2028.

In addition to first-time voter registration, you can transfer your registration records from one city or municipality to another, reactivate your registration, reinstate your records, or correct errors in your voter information during the registration period.
Remember: Voting is one of the simplest ways we can participate in national and local issues, so make sure to register!
