(SPOT.ph) If you’ve been thinking about having that pain in your back or joints checked, here’s your chance to finally do something about it—for free.
The Medical City is hosting free orthopedic screenings from August 10 to 14 at the Ground Floor of its hospital on Ortigas Avenue, Pasig City, in celebration of Ortho Week 2026. Available screenings cover osteoporosis, hip and knee arthritis, carpal tunnel and trigger finger, and scoliosis.
Just take note that not all screenings are available every day. Scoliosis, hand, and arthritis screenings will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on August 10 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on August 11 and 12. Osteoporosis screening gets its own schedule from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on August 13 and 14.
The free screening is meant to help patients spot possible orthopedic concerns and determine whether they may need further testing, treatment, or consultation.

How to get a free consultation at The Medical City
Anyone over 18 with orthopedic concerns, such as joint and back pain, bone or muscle injuries, arthritis, and other conditions, is welcome to get tested.
You're encouraged to pre-register through a Google Form, as slots are highly limited. Walk-ins will also be accepted but those who registered online will be prioritized during the event.
Once your slot is confirmed by a representative from The Medical City, prepare any previous medical records, laboratory and imaging results, a list of current medications, and assistive devices you use, if applicable. Basically, bring anything that can give the doctors a clearer picture of your condition.
During the event, doctors will review your medical history and conduct an orthopedic assessment and physical examination. Depending on the findings, patients may be given recommendations for treatment, rehabilitation, or further testing.
For any questions about the screening, you can call 8988 1000 or 8988 7000 ext. 2462 or email orthopedics@themedicalcity.com

Even if you don’t suspect anything is wrong, getting screened can help catch concerns that may not be immediately obvious. According to the Department of Health (DOH), over three million Filipinos have scoliosis, a condition whose signs can appear as early as adolescence.
Arthritis and osteoporosis are also common concerns, particularly as people get older. Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis in the Philippines, with prevalence reaching up to 4.1% among adults above 20 years old. Meanwhile, as many as 10.2 million Filipinos could be affected by osteoporosis by 2050, based on reports from the Osteoporosis Society of the Philippines Foundation Inc.
While most patients with orthopedic and musculoskeletal disorders are above the age of 50 to 60, those who have suffered injuries, weight maintenance challenges, or live with pre-existing conditions like diabetes are at high risk.
Doctors have emphasized the importance of early screening to address any red flags before it’s too late.
