SSS Launches New Official ID That Works Like a Debit Card—Here's How to Get One
Pensions, benefits, and loan proceeds are credited straight to the card.

(SPOT.ph) The Social Security System (SSS) is swapping out the old UMID card for something more useful: the new MySSS Card. Think of it as an upgrade—it still works as your official SSS ID, but it also doubles as a debit card you can actually use elsewhere.
Starting October 2025, members can apply through the My.SSS portal and link the card to a partner bank account. The first rollout is with RCBC DiskarTech, which is currently offering the card free of charge. Here’s everything you need to know about the new card.
What is the new MySSS Card?
The MySSS Card replaces the old UMID card as SSS’s official functional ID, but it does much more than that. It comes with an EMV chip and is tied to the National ID’s eVerify system, making transactions more secure. More importantly, your MySSS Card automatically becomes your main disbursement account for SSS benefits. This means your pensions, benefits, and loan proceeds are credited straight to the card. No need to go through the Disbursement Account Enrollment Module (DAEM).
Any old accounts you registered will remain in the system but won’t be used. Only one card can be active at a time, so if you want to switch to another partner bank once more join—AUB, China Bank, and UnionBank are lined up—you’ll need to close your existing account first.
Through RCBC DiskarTech, the card can also be used for ATM withdrawals, QR and online payments, shopping, and even earning rewards like a regular debit card. You can also tap it at MRT-3 stations, with LRT-1 and LRT-2 compatibility set to follow soon. Loan applications through the card are also in the works.
Here’s the catch: Although it’s valid for SSS transactions, it isn’t guaranteed to be accepted by other agencies or businesses as a valid ID. Old SSS cards like the UMID still work, so you don’t have to rush to replace them unless you want the new features or you’ve lost your card.

Who can get a new MySSS card?
Most SSS members can apply—including pensioners, individual claimants, and representative payees—so long as their records are up to date. That means you should already have a permanent SS number, an active My.SSS account, current contact details, and a National ID that matches your SSS info.
If your name or birth date don’t line up between SSS and the National ID system, you’ll need to fix that first before applying.

How to get a new MySSS Card?

Applying is a two-step process. You’ll start with SSS, then finish up with the partner bank.
First, log in to your My.SSS account and look for the “MySSS Card” under Services. Check your personal details, give consent for SSS to verify you with the National ID system, and do a quick facial scan. No branch visits are required for biometrics since the card uses your picture from your National ID. From there, you’ll choose your partner bank—right now, only RCBC is offering the card, but more banks are expected later. After confirming, you’ll get a notification in your My.SSS inbox and through email.
From there, you open a RCBC DiskarTech account through the app with the same name, which you can download on iOS and Android. Once your account is active, RCBC will process and release your card for free. Expect it within 15 working days if you’re in Metro Manila or 20 days if you’re outside.
