Mapúa and Adamson Enter QS World University Rankings for the First Time

Mapúa landed in the 1,401+ band, while Adamson placed in the 1,001–1,200 bracket, joining a list of more than 1,500 institutions worldwide evaluated for academic reputation, employer feedback, internationalization, and research impact. 

Adamson’s inclusion follows what the university calls “a humble validation of the hard work and collective effort of our faculty, staff, administrators, students, and alumni,” with current president Fr. Daniel Franklin Pilario stating that the recognition reflects its efforts to raise the university’s profile while maintaining its Vincentian values. 

On the other hand, Mapua described the ranking as proof of its transformation into a “future-forward university.” Founded in 1925, Mapúa has recently expanded its global partnerships and digital learning initiatives, which may have boosted its QS metrics. 

With this development, six Philippine universities are now listed in the QS World Rankings. The University of the Philippines remains the top-ranked school at 362nd, followed by Ateneo de Manila University at 511th, De La Salle University at 654th, and the University of Santo Tomas in the 851–900 rank.

No longer included this year is the University of San Carlos, which was previously listed in the 1201–1400 range in the 2025 QS World University Rankings. 

The QS World University Rankings is an annual publication of university rankings by QS, a British company specializing in education. It evaluates universities worldwide based on several factors including academic reputation, employer reputation, and faculty/student ratio. Its 2026 edition includes more than 1,500 universities across 105 higher education systems. 

The rankings are widely regarded as one of the most influential and comprehensive assessments of higher education institutions in the world.
