Heads Up, Motorists: SLEX Toll Fees Are Going Up in January

(SPOT.ph) Driving south will cost a little more starting the new year. Beginning January 1, 2026, toll fees on the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) will increase following an adjustment approved by the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB).

Under the new toll matrix, motorists traveling the Alabang to Calamba stretch will see higher fees across all vehicle classes. Class 1 vehicles (cars and motorcycles) will pay P10 more, Class 2 vehicles (buses and light trucks) will be charged P21 more, and Class 3 vehicles (heavy trucks) will see an increase of P31.

The shorter Calamba to Sto. Tomas stretch will also see slight increases, with tolls going up by P3 for Class 1, P5 for Class 2, and P8 for Class 3 vehicles.

According to the TRB, the toll adjustment is intended to support the continued operations, maintenance, and improvement of SLEX and its connected expressway network, including the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) Tollway, for a "safer, faster, and more convenient travel experience."

There’s at least one small break before the higher rates kick in. SLEX will be toll-free on New Year’s Eve from 10 p.m. on December 31, 2025 until 6 a.m. on January 1, 2026, giving motorists a last chance to pass through without paying before the new rates take effect.

If you’re headed all the way to Batangas, expect another bump once you move onto the STAR Tollway. Toll fees there are also going up across all vehicle classes starting January 1. The Sto. Tomas to Lipa section will now cost P60 for Class 1, P119 for Class 2, and P179 for Class 3 vehicles, while the Lipa to Batangas stretch will be priced at P53, P106, and P159, respectively.

As always, it's best to prepare for the new amounts—and make sure your RFID is sorted before hitting SLEX to avoid delays once you're on the road.
