Heads Up, Motorists: There Are New Parking Rules Along Tomas Morato and Timog Avenue

(SPOT.ph) Planning to visit Tomas Morato or Timog for dinner or drinks? You’ll want to keep an eye on the clock from now on—new parking rules will be implemented by next week.

The Quezon City Government will conduct a dry run of new parking regulations along two of the busiest food and nightlife strips in the city starting March 23, 2026. This is meant to test how the new system will work on the ground before a formal policy is finalized.

The coverage applies to the entire stretch of both roads:

 • Tomas Morato Avenue: from Eugenio Lopez Jr. Drive to E. Rodriguez Avenue

 • Timog Avenue: from Quezon Avenue to EDSA

Here's how the dry-run will work: Parking in designated public parking spaces will remain free, but slots will be first-come, first-served—so availability will likely be tight during peak hours. Once you secure a slot, you’re allowed to park for a maximum of three hours only, with an official ticket issued by authorities serving as your time record.

After that, you’re required to move your vehicle to another public parking space. Staying beyond the three-hour limit without relocating will result in a violation, according to the advisory.

To avoid confusion—or scams—Quezon City Government clarified that only personnel from the QC Transport and Traffic Management Department (TTMD) are authorized to issue official parking tickets. These tickets will serve as your record of parking time during the dry run.

It’s also worth noting that no parking fees should be collected at all. Any individual attempting to charge motorists for parking in these locations can be reported directly to the TTMD Main Office, which is located on the 2nd Floor, DPOS Building, Quezon City Hall Compound, Kalayaan Avenue, Diliman. Yes, those "attendants" charging you P100 to P200 for "allowing" you to park along establishments are illegal.

The move is part of the QC ReVibe initiative, which focuses on improving traffic flow and managing public spaces more efficiently in high-traffic commercial locations.

This dry-run setup will remain in place until the proposed Public Pay Parking Ordinance is officially passed. In other words, this is a test phase for a more formal, possibly paid, parking system later on. Enjoy free parking while you can!
