WATCH: AI-Generated Zaldy Co Makes Surprise Appearance in This Wedding Video

(SPOT.ph) Same-day edit (SDE) videos at weddings usually follow a format: romantic vows, candid laughs, maybe a tear here and there. At Christian and Cariza’s wedding, however, that version went off-script when someone who looked a lot like former lawmaker Zaldy Co showed up on screen. It’s not actually Co but an AI-generated version of him created by wedding photo and video team RPFilmworks.

“Co” congratulated the couple, delivering a tongue-in-cheek message that immediately caught everyone off guard, including the couple themselves who had no idea about the video.

The reveal didn’t come out of nowhere, though. The SDE was already Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-themed to begin with, with the groom shown wearing a hard hat while his groomsmen handed him a suitcase supposedly “from Zaldy Co,” setting the tone for what came next.

“Christian and Cariza, congratulations sa inyong kasal. Nawa'y ang pagsasama niyo ay kasing-tibay ng kontrata. Walang atrasan, walang back-out,” AI-generated Co said to a laughing crowd. “After ng kasal ninyo, mas marami pa akong maletang ipapadala sa inyo. Ipapadeliver ko na lang, kayo na ang bahala mag-inventory.”

The SDE was later posted by RPFilmworks on Facebook and, as of writing, has garnered over 14,000 reactions and 850 shares. The team explained that the SDE was inspired by the couple’s original concept, with the surprise cameo added purely for creative shock value.

As you probably recall, the AI bit references the six-minute video by Co, who is wanted for the P100-billion budget insertions he is accused of facilitating during his time as the House appropriations committee chairman. He claimed that budget insertions were done upon the instruction of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.— a claim that Malacañang has denied. 

This is not the first time RPFilmworks has leaned into humor and pop culture for its SDEs. In February 2025, another SDE of theirs went viral in the format of Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, with an AI-generated Soho narrating the video.

Filipinos have been trying to trace Co’s movements since it became clear he had left the country for medical treatment in the United States in August. After his documented departure from New York, unverified sightings began circulating among overseas Filipino communities. Between late September and November, he was allegedly spotted in places like Singapore, Spain, Dubai, and Portugal. Some posts even reached Reddit, where users claimed they saw a man resembling Co on flights in and out of Singapore and Madrid—again, with no photos or verification attached.  

By the time local authorities weighed in, DILG said its own tracking confirmed that Co had indeed gone to the United States, Europe, Singapore, Portugal, Spain, and Japan. There is still no update on his whereabouts as of today.
