Would You Pay P800 to Run 200 Meters? UP Manila Has Just the Fun Run for You

(SPOT.ph) Running culture has gotten intense lately—months of training, waking up before sunrise, and pricey race shoes—but who says it has to be that serious? The 2026 UP Manila Fun Run is getting attention on social media after people noticed one of its race categories: a very manageable, very approachable 200 meters.
Yes, just 200 meters—a distance it will take to walk a block or two. UP Manila is making it clear it's not a joke.
If that route is too short for you, there’s also a three-kilometer and five-kilometer option. The fun run is open to everyone, so you don’t have to be a UP student, alumnus, or employee to join.
According to the event poster, the 200-meter category is suggested for elderly participants, kids, and those joining with pets, which makes sense: not everyone joining a fun run is trying to beat a personal record.
Meanwhile, the 3K and 5K categories are suggested for adult family members.

Social media users react to UP Manila Fun Run
What really made people stop scrolling, though, was the price. Running 200 meters costs P800, with an additional P500 fee for participants bringing a pet. The 3K category costs P1,000, while the 5K category costs P1,200.
Users on social media couldn't seem to believe it.
“Ang mahal. Ano ba routa niyan? Skyway?”
“200m pero nakaluhod.”
“Merong for free, pero Oblation Run.”
To be fair, the registration fee comes with the usual fun-run inclusions. Each registered participant will receive a shirt, race bib, and Tyvek band, plus a finisher medal upon completion. So yes, you still go home with a medal by running 200 meters. Let people have things.
