Local Brand Zarah Juan's Whimsical Bags Will Be on Sale Next Week

That's how long the journey has been for the eponymous bag brand Zarah Juan and its line of signature handcrafted bags (whose roots trace back even further with Green Leaf Ecobags). And for the past few years, Zarah Juan—in the spirit of giving back on her birthday—has been putting her standout pieces at discounted prices for their biggest sale of the year. This year is no different. Here's everything we know so far about Zarah Juan's birthday sale.

You would know a Zarah Juan bag if you ever saw one—you wouldn't stop at just admiring it; and that only cements the fact that each piece is a conversation starter. The brand is full of whimsy, taking the form of nostalgic pop culture and cultural heritage icons, and weaving them into everyday practicality and functionality through its bags.

Not only that, but they also and champion local artisans and textiles, which makes the designs not just unique, but also meaningful and sustainable.

From August 17 to 30, in-store at Power Plant Mall, Greenbelt 5, and online through their website, you can get your hands on Zarah Juan's bags at steal prices. We're telling you, if you feel like your wardrobe and ensembles need flair and more life, then you need a piece or two (or five) from Zarah Juan. This sale is the perfect opportunity to finally get your hands on one without putting a huge dent in your savings.

While we don't know the exact styles that will be included in the sale, here are all the bags on our wishlists: the Aklat Micro Bag (P7,950), a box-shaped bag featuring a design that resembles colorful books stacked on top of each other. It is also made by artisans from Paete and Bulacan, and weavers from Abra, Benguet, and Cavite. There's also the PUJ Clutch Bag (P5,500) that takes the form of our Philippine jeepneys. The body is handcrafted by Cavite artisans, with a handwoven Inabel lining from Abra and straps from Benguet, which is then assembled by bagmakers in Bulacan.

"Every year, on my birthday, I try to give back instead of receive," Zarah Juan said on their post. "This is that tradition, our biggest sale of the year, once a year only, made simply to say thank you. Because a decade of your love and support deserves to be returned, gently, sincerely, from my heart to yours."
