Here's Everything You Need to Know About the New iPhone 17 Series

(SPOT.ph) It's the most wonderful time of the year again. No, we're not talking about Christmas (at least not yet)—but the time Apple drops the newest iteration of its flagship smartphone series. We're already in the iPhone 17 Series era, folks, and here's everything you need to know about the latest Apple phones (should you ever want one of your own and missed the livestream), plus a few drops on the tech giant's other devices.

Introducing Apple's iPhone 17..
Okay, either you were dozing off to some good dreams or you fell asleep while waiting for the much-anticipated livestream to start. It was around 1 a.m. in the Philippines after all. So, we get you, and that's why we're here: to give you a lowdown of the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, and the new iPhone Air. The latest of the Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch SE 3, Apple Watch Ultra 3, and AirPods Pro 3, have also been announced alongside the smartphone lineup.
First things first: there are three models in the lineup. Of course, there's the iPhone 17, the iPhone Air, and the iPhone 17 Pro. From the A18 chip, the new lineup advances to A19, which delivers improved performance, efficiency, and a notable speed boost. The iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and Pro Max are equipped with the A19 Pro chip, with an "even higher sustained performance." It's the iPhone series with the highest performance ever.
When it comes to display, the iPhone 17 starts with a 6.3" then to iPhone Air's 6.5" screen. Lastly, the iPhone 17 Pro has a 6.9" or 6.3" screen. All displays have a Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion tech, which allows for a bigger, brighter, and smoother display. Despite the powerful A19 Pro and big screen, the iPhone Air, to be more specific, is the thinnest and lightest iPhone yet—at just 5.6 mm and weighing just 165 grams.

Camera
Onto one of the best parts; the camera. All units in the 17 series have a 48MP Fusion Main camera—albeit in different systems. The iPhone 17 has the Dual Fusion camera system (with the 48MP Fusion Main and 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide), while the iPhone Pro and Pro Max have the Pro Fusion (with the 48MP Fusion Main, 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide, and 48MP Fusion Telephoto). One of the major features in the series is the 18MP Center Stage front camera, which all phones have.
The Center Stage features "the first square front camera sensor on iPhone." The up to 18MP for photos will make your shots clearer and capture more detail. You also don't have to switch from landscape to portrait when you're holding your phone vertically and you're midway through a selfie or vlog. For group shots, the phone will automatically widen the field of view when more people are around for a shot. Everyone will be included in the photo this time.
For optical zoom options, the Pro and Pro Max go from .5x to 8x (it's like having 8 pro lenses in your pocket, Apple said) while the iPhone 17 goes from .5 to 2x. The iPhone Air has no .5x (only 1x and 2x), so if .5 Gen Z selfies are your thing, better keep this in mind.

iOS 26

No more unwanted calls from unknown callers!.
The new iOS 26 offers a fresh new look, courtesy of the Liquid Glass. Aptly enough, the experience is fluid—from your lock screen and home screen, to control center, apps, and more. Speaking of apps, the icons will also be updated. They will go clear, and you can take your pick between light and dark appearances and even color-tinted icons.
iOS 26 also has Live Translation embedded in Messages. So yep, you don't have to switch tabs or apps to translate texts. It will also display live translated captions in FaceTime for seamless conversations between two different languages.
With iOS 26, there will be no unwanted calls from unknown callers through Call Screening. Shoutout to those who prefer texts over calls! You'll have new screening tools that will detect spam and "give you control over who appears in your Messages." Not only that, but iOS 26 also introduces new features in CarPlay, Apple Music, Maps, and Wallet.

Battery capacity
For the iPhone 17, you can get up to 30 hours of video playback—that's like 75 to 90 episodes of F.R.I.E.N.D.S without interruptions. You can get up to 50% of the charge in just 20 minutes. The iPhone Air can get you up to 27 hours of video playback, with up to 50% charge in just 30 minutes. The iPhone 17 Pro, on the other hand, will get you up to 39 hours of video playback, and 20 minutes of charging can get you up to 50% already.
Colors and storage
The iPhone 17 starts at 256GB of storage and has five colors: Lavender, Sage, Mist Blue, White, and Black. The iPhone Air, too, starts at 256GB (up to 1TB) and is available in Sky Blue, Light Gold, Cloud White, and Space Black.
The iPhone 17 Pro is available starting at 256GB storage, with Silver, Cosmic Orange, and Deep Blue colorways. The iPhone 17 Pro Max has the same colors, but its storage goes up to 2TB.
