(SPOT.ph) We've all been there before—a dip in the mattress that triggers back pain, tossing and turning, and sleepless nights. Getting a new mattress means throwing the whole thing away once the cushion wears down, even if the springs are still good and the base remains solid. For local mattress brand Mooni, there's no need to keep buying a new mattress: its modular, swappable layers system lets buyers customize the firmness of their bed any time and replace only the worn-down cushions as the years go by.

Mooni's customizable mattresses are built to last for years

Mooni draws its name from the moon and how it represents calmness, restfulness, and renewal effortlessly. As crucial as every phase of the moon, each layer of the Mooni mattress creates a system of solace.

Mooni offers two types of mattresses: The Mooni Classic and The Mooni Luxury. While different once unzipped, they share the same, modular system. Essentially, the mattress has multiple layers you can switch around to suit your preferences, and should a layer ever wear down, you can replace just that layer instead of the whole mattress.

The Mooni Classic features a removable and washable top cover equipped with cooling technology that regulates temperature, soft and durable 585 GSM Belgian fabric by Bekaert Deslee, which has a OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification. Unzip the cover and you'll see a 4cm 30D gel-infused memory foam Comfort Layer that provides pressure relief. Beneath is the Support Layer, a 4cm 30D dynamic foam transition layer designed for spinal support. It's what gives the mattress that bouncy feel.

The Twice-tempered Pocketed Springs of the Mooni Classic are incorporated with 2.3 millimeter springs along the perimeter to ensure stability across the entire mattress, while its Knitted Fabric Base is made out of non-woven fabric and polyester fiber.

Unlike the Mooni Classic that fits only two layers, the Mooni Luxury has room for three and features the Luxurious Comfort Layer, a 4cm 50D gel-infused memory foam that provides pressure relief, which sits beneath the removable and washable top cover. The 4cm 38D Responsive Comfort Layer under it is designed for spinal support and absorbs body pressure, all the while giving the bed that bouncy feel.

Finally, the Mooni Luxury has a Support Layer composed of a 4cm 30D high-density support foam that evenly distributes body weight across the twice-tempered pocketed springs foundation so the body is properly aligned during sleep.

The Mooni Luxury also has a Flippable Base, where the top offers comfort, and the bottom side if more firm. Flip things around depending on your needs and preference.

Bodies and preferences change, demanding different configurations over time. Mooni's eco-friendly and modular system lets users rearrange layers or replace cushions, without having to throw the whole thing away and buy an entirely new mattress to accommodate adjustments. Every swap and layer replacement keeps the mattress new, so you're supported and getting good sleep at every point in life.

The local brand's mattresses come in five different sizes: Single, Twin, Double, Queen, and Super King. Prices start at P32,959 for the Mooni Classic, but it's on a 30% sale, so the Single is down to P23,065. The Mooni Luxury mattress starts at P57,950 for the Single. Every Mooni mattress gives you the freedom to define what is soft or firm for you. What’s important is that you get a bed that feels just right.

Mooni Managing Director Jam Chan Cua knows how difficult it would be to modify a product that has more or less remained the same over the years: “Creating Mooni from scratch wasn’t easy. We had no blueprint—just an idea and a clear goal to build something different. From product development to logo design, everything was a trial-and-error process. One of the biggest challenges was defining our identity in such a saturated market. What helped us push through was staying curious, listening to real customer needs, and working closely as a small, passionate team. Little by little, Mooni found its voice—playful, thoughtful, and truly ours.”

Try out the Mooni mattress at home before fully committing

Mooni Nap Labs are located at Uptown Mall BGC, EDSA Cubao, and Libis. The labs have both types of mattresses and allow buyers to test out the mattresses and their preferred layering configuration. Prefer the bed enveloping you after a long day at work? The comfort layer is definitely going on top. If you're the type to go for a firmer feel, the support layer can go on top of the softer layers so you're not left feeling like you're sinking.

While the Mooni website does a good job of describing each layer, buyers are advised to try it out themselves at a Mooni Nap Lab and seek guidance from staff for the best layer set-up. The true test is sleeping on the mattress. Sure, it feels comfy in store, but nothing beats taking a snooze on the actual unit at home.

Adjusting to a new mattress can take time, especially if you've had the same one for years. Mooni has a seven-night customization trial, where buyers have a whole week to test the bed out, play around with the layering, and consult Mooni staff to get the best arrangement. Mooni recommends sleeping on the mattress for three nights to get used to the new firmness. If you feel as though it's not the bed of your dreams, Mooni staff can offer a firmness adjustment after the three-day break-in period. At this time, the body has typically adjusted, and buyers keep the mattress.
