Onitsuka Tiger Brings Sparkle Into Its Popular Ballet Sneakers This Holiday Season

(SPOT.ph) The year 2025 is without a doubt the year of ballet sneakers. And Onitsuka Tiger is one of those sneaker brands that hopped in on the trend with a version of their cult-fave Mexico 66: the Mexico 66 TGRS. To ring in the holidays, they also gave the just-mentioned style a sparkly makeover.

It was only earlier this year that Onitsuka Tiger's shelves were adorned with the Mexico 66 TGRS—and it didn't take long before the stocks were sold out. The coquettish pair was definitely a need for many a lady's wardrobe.

The Mexico 66 TGRS is the cutesy sister of the iconic Mexico 66. It features a low-profile silhouette, a round toe, and the classic Onitsuka Tiger stripes. It's a slip-on style with scalloped straps over the upper (even the stripes are scalloped). The opening is wide like your usual ballet flats.

The Mexico 66 TGRS—along with the classic Mexico 66—is getting glitter-fied with Onitsuka Tiger's special collection, the Holiday Glitter Pack.

Two of the Japanese footwear brand's silhouettes will have this elegant, glitter finish that will give a beautiful, sparkling vibe wherever you step out. It also boasts a metallic-colored material that adds depth and presence. It's perfect for your holiday fits, and you'll feel more comfortable dancing in these pairs at your endless parties.

The collection has two sparkling colorways: one in black, which is versatile and timeless, and the other, if you want to add more oomph to your fits, is in this metallic pink colorway. The pink colorway is a total headturner, with glitter littered over the canvas with silvery pink touches on the toe cap, stripes, and even the straps. The Mexico 66, on the other hand, is only available in the black colorway.

While we know that the Onitsuka Tiger TGRS retail at P10,400, we don't know the exact price of them yet in this special collection. According to Onitsuka Tiger, these pairs will be available starting second week of December at Onitsuka Tiger PH stores.
