Soon to Open: Tennis Homecourt at Ayala Malls Manila Bay

(SPOT.ph) One thing we're not going to do is fall behind on the Alex Eala hype train—although it's less hype and more true blue Pinoy Pride, we think. We're not the only ones hoping for investments in a wider range of sports, and entities like Ayala Malls continue to answer the call.

Ayala Malls Manila Bay will be launching Tennis Homecourt, a regulation-standard tennis court developed in partnership with leading Philippines-based tennis academy Austennis. While exact dates are yet to be revealed, representatives estimate a late 2026 grand opening.

The announcement was made during the Globe Homecourt event at Glorietta, celebrating Eala’s sporting achievements. It's no secret that her journey to and through Wimbledon has been inspiring more Filipinos to get into the game, and perhaps even go so far as to pick up a racket.

“Our hope is that Tennis Homecourt encourages even more people to give the sport a try—to build confidence, make new friends, and discover a lasting love for the game,” says Mariana Zobel de Ayala, Ayala Land Senior Vice President and Head of Leasing and Hospitality. “We're proud to build spaces where people gather around shared [...] passions.”

Ayala Malls Manila Bay is already home to three permanent Homecourt facilities: Table Tennis Homecourt, Taekwondo Homecourt, and the Sports Center that accommodates multiple sports, including basketball (of course), chess, pickleball, and fencing among a growing line-up of emerging sports.

Since its launch in 2023, the Homecourt concept has allowed Ayala Malls Manila Bay to go beyond just redefining the mall experience, and truly invest in community and the evolving demands of customers. In under three years, 7,000 square meters of Ayala Malls Manila Bay have been transformed into sports venues, hosting over 450 daily workshops and weekend tournaments, as well as national and international sporting events such as FIBA and UAAP tournaments, Batang Pinoy and Philippine National Games, ASEAN Taekwondo Championships, and South East Asian Fencing Championships. So if you needed a reason (or just a place) to awaken your inner athlete and find other beginners to learn alongside, you're very much in luck.

And who knows? Once you hit the court, you could well be on your way to becoming the next "very dangerous player"—high praise from Eala's last Wimbledon opponent, Jasmine Paolini of Italy.
