It's Confirmed: Cebu Pacific Ups Carry-On Baggage Allowance to 10 Kilos

(SPOT.ph) Raise your hand if you've ever felt anxious over your carry-on baggage allowance when flying. Don't worry, Spotters, we feel you. But this news might just ease your pre-flight jitters. In a surprise move, Cebu Pacific Air dropped a major update to its baggage policy.

Heads up, travel bugs: Starting September 15, 2026, travelers flying on Cebu Pacific can now bring up to 10 kilograms of hand-carry items, up from the previous seven-kilogram allowance. But before you start ditching the pack-light mindset, you should know that it doesn't readily apply to all flights. Here's what you need to know.

Travel bugs everywhere were sent into a tizzy when reports circulated on September 10 about a change in Cebu Pacific's baggage policy. Several posts on X and Facebook showed a conversation between a user and a Cebu Pacific social media agent that seemed to confirm a change from the standard seven-kilogram carry-on allowance to three kilos more, for a total of 10 kilos. While the news was welcomed by travelers all around, some met it with skepticism citing the policy is not yet visible on the airline website nor social media channels.

Finally, after almost a day in limbo, the airline has released an official statement confirming the change. "Starting September 15, 2026, travelers flying on Cebu Pacific (5J) flights may bring up to 10kg of total hand-carry items, an increase from the previous 7kg allowance," the statement reads. It further adds that the move was a "part of its continuing efforts to improve the travel experience and make the boarding process more convenient for its passengers."

To be clear, it's only the weight limit that changed. Cebu Pacific's carry-on baggage policy still only allows a maximum of two pieces of carry-on baggage: one hand-carry item and a personal bag, which together must not exceed 10 kilograms.

• One hand-carry baggage item to be placed in the overhead bin with dimensions: up to Height = 56 cm × Length = 36 cm × Width = 23 cm

• One personal item to fit under the seat in front: up to Height = 20 cm × Length = 35 cm x Width = 20 cm 

A few exceptions apply. The following items will be allowed on top of the one hand-carry baggage:

• Duty-free items that are purchased at airside, accompanied by a valid receipt, and are in their original Duty-Free packaging 

• Medical mobility aids such as walking sticks, crutches, and prosthetic devices 

• Wheelchairs and strollers that are foldable and/or within hand carry dimensions 

But before you start packing more outfits for your next trip, note that the change only applies to 5J flights. Cebgo flights, i.e., those on smaller planes and with a flight code starting with DG, still have a hand-carry baggage allowance of only seven kilograms. So, double-check your boarding passes to see if the change applies to your flight.

Additionally, Cebu Pacific reiterates that starting this September, they will collect a Gate Baggage Fee from guests carrying more than the allowed number of pieces, or exceeding the allowed size and weight of hand-carry baggage. So, TBH, the pack-light, pack-only-what-you-can-carry policy still applies.
