ICYDK, the BSP Library Is Open to the Public Free of Charge

(SPOT.ph) Work from home is great and all, but sometimes we need a change of scenery to get the creative juices flowing. For chronic procrastinators just feet away from their beds, getting out of the house is the only way to resist the urge to bed-rot. Lucky for us, there are still places around the Metro perfect for a couple of hours of deep focus. If you’re around the Malate area, here’s another spot to add to the list: the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Library is open to the public and free for everyone to use.

Located within the BSP Hub along Roxas Boulevard, the BSP Library is a cozy alternative for your next work and study marathon. It's open from Monday through Thursday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., making it an ideal daytime refuge when you need to lock into your workflow without cafe distractions.

The space feels specifically designed for research, quiet focus, and reading time. Beyond the shared study desks, the facility has an extensive collection of books, financial reference materials, and economic publications. If you’re just in for some light reading, there are even comfortable lounge seats where you can sit back and immerse yourself fully in your book.

Best of all, access to the library and its facilities is completely free and open to the general public. All you have to do is present one government-issued ID or a valid student ID to secure entry.

Keep in mind that because the library is situated within a government complex, try to come in presentable attire. It’s probably best to leave your pambahay-core slippers and athletic shorts at home, so you can pass through campus security without any hiccups.

If you’re making your way to Roxas Boulevard, you might as well explore the BSP Hub beyond the library shelves. Opened as a one-stop shop for the central bank, the complex packs several public-facing facilities in one easily accessible location.

For instance, Museo BSP sits right inside the hub. Here, visitors can trace the evolution of Philippine currency and explore the country’s rich numismatic heritage. If you are a coin collector or simply want a token from your visit, commemorative notes, collectible coins, and other official BSP merchandise are available for purchase at the BSP Hub. The complex also houses meeting rooms and an auditorium dedicated to lectures and public events.

And of course, Filipinos can also drop by the BSP Hub for direct public services. During office hours, personnel are on-site to address concerns about financial institutions under BSP, assist with official inquiries, and even handle issues about BSP-acquired real estate properties.

Once you've settled your inquiries or taken a quick spin around the museum, you can head upstairs to lock in a few hours of work at the BSP Library.
