Mark Your Calendars: Intramuros Is Hosting a One-Day-Only Summer Festival This April

(SPOT.ph) Intramuros isn't just a place to learn about our Spanish colonial past; it's also a place to gather and celebrate the Filipino spirit. Case in point, this April, the Walled City opens its gates to everyone seeking a mix of culture, creativity, and community as it brings back the Intramuros Summer Festival.

Here's what to expect at this one-day-only summer community event in Old Manila.

On April 25, Intramuros is throwing a one-day-only event celebrating the very best of the Filipino spirit. Happening at the Plaza Moriones in Fort Santiago, the Intramuros Summer Festival is a jam-packed day filled with fun, food, music, and a lot of good vibes.

It features an all-day pop-up market showcasing a selection of Filipino food and crafts, interactive booths where guests can learn about our culture and history, and an OPM concert where you can rock out with bands such as Hale, Mayonnaise, This Band, and many more.

Now in its second year, this event celebrates the Intramuros Administration's founding anniversary, the group responsible for preserving, restoring, and stewarding the Walled City. So come in your best retro summer outfit and join the celebration.

• Medical Mission: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

• Interactive Booths: 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

• Pop-up Market: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

• Concert: 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Most of the events of the Intramuros Summer Festival are open to the public free of charge. Just show up and enjoy the products at the pop-up market and join any of the activities at the booths onsite. But if you're interested in watching the concert and rocking out with the OPM bands lined up, access to the concert is free granted you purchase an Intramuros Passport.

You can grab an Intramuros Passport online for just P350, or P280 for PWDs, senior citizens, and students. More than just a pass for the Intramuros Summer Festival concert, this passport grants its bearers a one-time entry to five of Intramuros' major sites: Fort Santiago, Museo de Intramuros, Centro de Turismo Intramuros, Casa Manila Museum, and Baluarte de San Diego.

Pro tip: The Intramuros Passport doesn’t expire—so there’s no need to squeeze everything into one trip. You can keep using it for free entry to each site, as long as you haven’t visited that particular spot yet.
