LOOK: Eastwood Makes the Holidays Extra Bright and Merry With a Spectacle of Lights

(SPOT.ph) One of the telltale signs that the Holiday season has started is when every mall and establishment puts up their Christmas lights and decorations. The festivities amplify (and the lights, more dizzying) as the days draw near, with gigantic Christmas tree lightings and other Holiday activities that occur left and right until the day actually arrives. It's a fun, magical tradition for families and shoppers in general to check out these spots during this time of the year, and one of said destinations to feel the Christmas magic is Eastwood City. They recently transformed the township into a grand spectacle of lights that will make your Holidays extra bright (literally) and merry.

Every year, Eastwood City amps up the Christmas magic in the township. Last year, it was a magical Christmas Village filled with various merchants at Eastwood Central Park. For this year, the highlight is at the Eastwood Mall Open Park and inside Eastwood Mall. Named "A Season of Light," this festive occasion also marks the opening of the revitalized and beautified open park, which is now surrounded by newly opened stores and experiences.

Aside from the new spots that mallgoers can visit at Eastwood Mall, they can also marvel at the township's holiday magic as they take a walk around the area. For this year, the open park has transformed into a vibrant art walk; a spectacle of lights and sculpture that makes the area like an open exhibit, featuring the works of three visionary artists: Olivia d’Aboville, Mikayla Teodoro, and Teddy Manuel.

"The Season of Light is more than a celebration; it is a reflection of Eastwood City as a community where creativity, culture, and togetherness shine brightly," said Graham Coates, First Vice President and Head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls. "Through the artistry of Olivia, Mikayla, and Teddy, we invite our guests to experience the wonder of the holidays in ways that inspire joy, connection, and a renewed appreciation for the Filipino spirit."

With every step you take into the open park, you'll be greeted by the installations that will illuminate your evenings. The first thing you'll come across is the towering light sculptures that are in the shape of dandelions dotted across the space. This is the internationally acclaimed creation of French-Filipino artist Olivia d'Aboville, the Giant Dandelions.

These lights look like tall, colorful beacons at first glance, guiding you through a path that leads to the mall and the open space—but upon closer inspection, you'll see that they are also a work of sustainability, having been composed of more than 10,000 recycled bottles.

Visitors can have a look around, walk between the stems, and see the plastic bottles catch the light in various shades and colors. These giant dandelions will light up Eastwood's evenings until December 30, running every hour from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Once you've followed the path to the open space, if you haven't noticed the towering Christmas tree yet—it will reveal itself in its full glory, as well as a series of sculptures (Lolo at Apo sa Dagat ng mga Bituin, Kundiman sa Buwan, Sila Mingming, Brownie, at mga Tala, and the Tree of Dreams) that surround it, which highlights the true magic of Christmas, a.k.a family and meaningful connections, courtesy of puppet, set designer, and visual artist Mikayla Teodoro. The tree is decked in blue, red, and yellow, towering over the open park. You can take a closer look at it through a bridge that also overlooks a small pond.

These sculptures are made merrier with the Fountain and Light Show as a backdrop, creating a stunning spectacle that's true to this season's theme. The fountain and light show at the Eastwood Mall Open Park will happen every hour from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. until December 30. So if you're looking for the perfect time to drop by and see it all in action, visit during these times.

If you want to go inside the mall, just right there in the atrium is renowned event stylist and creative director Teddy Manuel's artwork—which is this suspended garden of oversized blooms made from layered fabrics decked in bright holiday hues. It's a sight to behold, one that would make you take a pause and breathe amid the busy Christmas shopping. All you got to do is look up.

And that's not all that there is to look forward to in Eastwood during the holiday season. In the next few weeks leading up to Christmas and New Year, there will be art workshops and music performances in the area, as well as interactive activities and dynamic performances to make your visit more enjoyable. Kids and kids-at-heart can also have the chance to meet Santa at the park. You should keep an eye out for Eastwood's socials for the schedule.

Shoppers can now also enjoy more stores and more spaces to lounge around in the area. There's the newly opened The Matcha Tokyo and harlan + holden right beside the open space. The Christmas Village and its merchants, too, will be in the Central Plaza until November 30.
