LOOK: There's Now a Reading Nook-Slash-Library for Commuters in One Ayala

(SPOT.ph) Spotters, how's your daily commute? If long lines in terminals make up more than half of your trip home every day, this one's for you. One Ayala just launched a program inviting passengers to drop everything and read. Introducing, The Stacks, One Ayala's newest hub for all things reading, books, and recreation.

Here's how this new spot is perfect for commuters looking to rest before their trips or kill time the best way possible.

From now until February 6, One Ayala has turned part of its space into a two-level library hall that bookworms—and weary commuters—will appreciate. Dubbed “the space between now and what’s next,” The Stacks is a shared literary nook located at the 2nd Level Concourse, where you can drop everything and read while waiting for your ride at the central terminal.

Whether you’re finally cracking open the book that’s been sitting in your bag for weeks or hunting for your next TBR addition, The Stacks has you covered. The first floor houses a curated selection of reads you can browse, buy, or borrow. Once you’ve picked your book, head upstairs to the second level, where you can settle in, linger, and get comfortably lost in a good read before heading home.

While you can buy books at The Stacks, it's not a requirement to use the space. Aside from bringing in your personal copies, you can also borrow books from the shelves too.

You can also declutter your personal collection by donating books to The Stacks—or trade titles on the second floor "public" shelves during their book-swapping sessions on January 30, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and February 1, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Aside from reading on your own and passing the time, The Stacks will also be holding bookish events like book launches, signings, talks, and readings, perfect for meeting fellow bookworms and just sharing the love for reading.

Here's the schedule of book events happening at The Stack:

• January 30, 10 a.m.: Book signing: Road Trip by Adee Calua, Tae-kwento by Li-anne Roa Patriciom, and Mi-mento by Ken Ricafort
  

• January 31, 1 p.m.:

  • Book launches: Ako, Ikaw at Isang Apocalyptic na Bulalakaw by Arnold Subastil and Still Here by Josue Mapagdalita 

  • Chapbook launch: Atlas of the Ordinary by Weinn Dee and Molten Light by CJ Peradilla
    

• January 31, 6 p.m.: Book signing: Ang Suklam sa Ating Naaagnas na Balat, Ang Bangin sa Ilalim ng Ating mga Paa, and Ang Kapangyarihang Higit sa Ating Lahat all by Ronaldo Vivo Jr.
  

• February 1, 1:00 PM Talks and readings: Isang Bagsak by Gabriela Baron and Kapag Umatake ang Dilim by Darwin Medalla
  

• February 1, 6:00 PM: Book signing: Thirty Virgins by Eros Atalia

It’s a bit of a bummer that The Stacks is only a temporary setup—running for just about a week and a half—especially when we could all use more free spaces meant for lingering. Still, here’s hoping this reading nook-slash-library gets an extension, or better yet, becomes a permanent fixture at One Ayala.
