Get Your Coffee and Crafts Fix at This Outdoor Festival in Marikina

(SPOT.ph) If you’re sick of the usual mall visit but still want to step out with friends or family this weekend, why not switch things up with an outdoor arts, crafts, and coffee festival? There’s one happening in the east—and entrance is free.

Marikina Freedom Park is hosting Art in Every Pour from February 19 to 22, a four-day celebration of local cafés, artisans, and performers in celebration of National Arts Month. Coffee stalls are open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., while arts and crafts booths start at 10 a.m.

On the coffee side, participating shops include Resonate Coffee, 1990 Cafe, Kape Benito, Overflow Coffee, and more (all of which are on our list of under-the-radar coffee shops in Marikina City!). It’s essentially a mini cafe crawl in one park, without the need to hop between shops. Plus, there are benches around the area, so you can actually sit down and hang out for as long as you like.

There are also activity booths from local creatives such as Art Patch, Little Bead, and The Attic Yarn and Hobby Studio, as well as floral finds from Craftsy Seeds. You’ll also see handmade accessories, small merch items, and other crafts by Marikina-based entrepreneurs.

There are also art exhibits, drawing tutorials, brewing demos, workshops, spoken word performances, and live music sets throughout the festival. If you’ve got a furry plus-one at home, you can bring them along, too! Marikina Freedom Park is pet-friendly.

Marikina Mayor Macy Teodoro said the event is a comeback of sorts. Last year’s coffee festival was cut short due to a typhoon, prompting the city to bring it back this year—this time expanded to include more artists.

“This festival gives our city’s creatives and entrepreneurs the opportunity to showcase their products, like handmade accessories and trinkets, and for our local vendors to offer their unique coffee blends and treats. Ito ay isang perfect place para makita ang totoong Tatak Marikina,” Teodoro said, adding that they plan to make festivals at Freedom Park a regular occurrence to encourage residents to gather outside.
