Happening on October 23 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the Philippine Spirits Halloween Walking Tour is an exploration of Manila that's not for the faint of heart. Walk around Ermita and notice its eerie corners, inhabited by mystical elementals and malevolent creatures that lurk as things grow dark and quiet.
Led by Karl Garveza—a Filipino mythology researcher, the man behind the Mythica Obscura series, and the founder of the digital archive of all things Philippine folklore: Philippine Spirits—this tour dives deep into the stories of strange supernatural beings from our own horror mythologies. You could be learning something new or interesting about a place one moment, then wondering if a restless spirit is haunting it the next. Sounds like the right fright for Halloween, if you ask us!
Philippine folklore is, after all, rich in spine-tingling stories, nightmarish creatures, and chilling urban legends passed down for generations—long before horror movies and modern Halloween monsters entered the picture. Through the walking tour, Garveza hopes to keep these stories and traditions alive, introducing them to a new generation of Filipino horror fans, folklore enthusiasts, and storytellers.

Although it’s still about a month away, it’s best to act fast and secure your slot ASAP. If you book today through October 17, you can reserve your tour slot at the early-bird rate of P650. After that, the regular price will be P800. Spots are limited and may fill up sooner than you think, so register now!
