LOOK: Pasig’s Upgraded Public Library Is Now Open

(SPOT.ph)  If your current work-from-home or study setup is starting to feel a little stale, we’ve got some great news: the Pasig City Library is now fully reopened to the public—and it’s looking better than ever.

Now housed in the brand-new Pasig Knowledge Center, the five-story facility officially opened its doors again on May 18. And yes, before you ask, the upgraded space is completely free and open to non-residents, too. Here's what you need to know before grabbing your laptop and heading over.

The Pasig Knowledge Center, the city's newest productivity and education hub, is now officially on soft opening. Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto recently shared the news on his social media page, giving the public its first peek at the massive upgrades and operating hours.

The new hub features five levels, with each floor thoughtfully designed to cater to different purposes, study styles, and age groups. On the first floor is the Children’s Area, a colorful, welcoming space filled with books, chairs, and tables designed especially for little ones.

For the grown-ups, the fourth floor houses the General Library Services. The bright, open-plan space features specialized zones, including a cozy nook for Periodicals, a Focused Study Zone, and a Computer and Digital Access Area for online research.

Finally, the fifth floor is home to the Focus and Refresh Hub. This level features the Reviewer Area, a dedicated spot to buckle down and get serious work done. There’s plenty of space here to zone in, and yes, charging sockets are readily available. Even better news: free Wi-Fi is available on this floor.

Need a (literal) breath of fresh air? Step out onto the fifth floor’s Al Fresco Area. There’s nothing quite there yet (the mayor noted a competitive selection process will be underway for a potential coffee shop or concessionaire), but it’s a pleasant spot to clear your head if you hit a sudden mental block. In his announcement post, Mayor Vico dubbed this the “Al’s Presko Area,” but we’ll have to wait and see if that moniker actually catches on.

Note that books and reference materials are currently for in-house reading only. Borrowing them to take home isn't allowed just yet, so you’ll have to plan a return trip to finish that good read—not that you’d mind coming back to a space like this, anyway.

The Pasig Knowledge Center is completely free to enter, and it is fully open to both Pasig City residents and non-residents alike. All you need to do is bring a valid photo ID to present at the entrance desk when you log in.

It is officially open from Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Spotters hunting for a quiet bookish weekend can now spend their Saturdays enjoying this reading-slash-working space without spending a single peso. Plus, Mayor Vico hinted that they’re looking into extending these already-long library hours “soon,” so we might get even more time to grind out our tasks in the near future.
