Spend Valentine’s Day With a Rescue Animal for a Good Cause

(SPOT.ph) Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to mean roses or reservations. Sometimes it can be about the love we give to those who need it the most. This February, the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is bringing back FURst Date, a fundraising event that lets you spend time with a rescued animal.

FURst Date is exactly what it sounds like: you book a short “date” with a PAWS rescue and give them some much-needed attention, playtime, and affection. The funds raised go directly to the care of more than 300 rescued animals currently staying at the PAWS shelter, helping cover daily needs like food, medical care, and upkeep as they wait for their forever homes. It's a win-win situation for everyone.

If you’re up for leaving the house, the on-site FURst Date runs from February 12 to 14 (Thursday to Saturday) at the PAWS Shelter along Aurora Boulevard corner Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City. For P700, you’ll get a 30-minute date with one rescued animal. Your visit also includes a guided shelter tour led by a PAWS volunteer, giving you a quick look at how the shelter operates and a chance to get to know the rescues beyond the date.

If you'd like to take part but can't make the trip, there’s also an online option for February 9 and 10 (Monday and Tuesday) for P500. This pairs you with one of PAWS’ rescues for a virtual hangout over Zoom.

If neither fits your schedule, you can still make connections happen by sponsoring a date. You can donate any amount to help fund special Valentine’s activities for rescues who can’t participate in the on-site or online sessions.

Whichever option you decide to go with, make sure to book a slot immediately, as slots are limited.
