This 8Cuts Regular Was Shocked to Find His Favorite Order Has Been Named After Him
“I can honestly say: I think this is the best burger….in the world!”

(SPOT.ph) A couple of weekends ago, Chris Upton was shocked to discover that the name of his regular order at the 8Cuts Burgers in Uptown BGC has been changed—to his name. “I’m so gagged,” he told SPOT.ph, still reeling from finding out his go-to 8Cuts branch’s menu now includes something called The Upton. “I can honestly say: I think this is the best burger….in the world!”
Upton is a fitness buff and is CEO of John Robert Powers, Intl., the popular personality development school. He spends a lot of his free time at the CrossFit gym, specifically the one just below the 8Cuts outlet in Uptown. “We tend to get a burger as a group after our Saturday workout and this is my regular order,” said Chris. “My gym mates started to order it as well, and it became a running joke that they should name it after me as a shortcut to ordering.”

What is The Upton?
What’s The Upton, you ask? The people at 8Cuts describes it thus: “The Upton is composed of a 1/3 Piggy with no bun, topped with a Double Up 1/3 Patty, Sunny Side Up Egg, with an optional Lettuce Wrap.”
It’s the ideal snack after a serious workout, insists Chris. “CrossFit workouts are very intense and we are often very protein hungry, so this is basically a protein bomb: two large patties, bacon, cheese, topped with a fried egg. No bun.”
“We got word about Chris Upton’s customized order at 8Cuts Uptown through a common friend,” says Eliza Antonino, Founder and Managing Partner of the Moment Group which runs 8Cuts. “It had become a regular order not just by Chris but also a number of his CrossFit friends (as there is a CrossFit gym in the same building). He gave the idea of maybe asking the team to informally call it The Upton anytime it’s ordered. We thought what a great idea and how about we take it up a notch and formally have it as a special menu item in the Uptown shop. It’s a great protein hit perfect for those who are trying to hit their macros so why not make it available to everyone?”

Priceless reaction
Chris obviously didn’t see the 8Cuts gesture coming. “I had no idea they would actually do this. The day I sat down and they showed me the special menu card…..best day ever,” Chris told Spot. “In my book there can be few things cooler than having a burger named after you. I’m over the moon!”
“We've always envisioned 8Cuts to be a place for diners to have fun and be creative with our menu, and The Upton was a great opportunity to show our guests how much we appreciate their feedback about our shops,” explained Antonino regarding The Upton. “But more importantly the reaction of Chris was priceless. We are in this business not just to feed people, we do what we do to make people happy. To give them moments to remember. We are ecstatic we were able to do this for Chris and the CrossFit community.”
Chris is a big traveler and lived in New York for a very long time. “I eat a lot of burgers,” he said. “So I think I can speak with some authority when I say: 8 Cuts has a world-class burger. When I’m back in Manila it’s one of the things I look for first.”
