(SPOT.ph) In the spirit of Christmas feasting, Bakery Felt is teaming up with another proudly Filipino dining institution, the icon that is Vito's BBQ. It’s the kind of unexpected collab that immediately makes sense once you remember how much of a staple grilling barbecue is in any handaan, but most especially handaans during the holiday season.

Instead of going the predictable route, the two food brands decided to turn that familiar, nostalgic barbecue into something far more playful: golden, flaky pastries packed with tender, smoky meat bits, with each croissant coming with their own unique twist: spicy cheese, sunny-side-up egg, or mashed potatoes.

Bakery Felt teams up with Vito's BBQ for a trio of savory pastries

First up in the three-item lineup is the Seoul-Search Samgyupsal Bun, with a flavor journey that travels from Korea, with a quick detour to Mexico before landing in the Philippines. Inside its golden, flaky shell are spicy cheese and tiny cubes of barbecue, smoky and familiar because, well, it's Vito’s BBQ. The sauce carries a gentle labuyo heat, while the white kimchi adds a bright tang and a light crunch.

For something more straightforward—something very Filipino and nothing else, there's the 24/7 Good Vibers Silog Bun. This variant has the same flaky crust and bits of Vito's BBQ but approaches a quintessential silog meal with its sunny side up egg and green onions. Plus, instead of sinangag or garlic rice, there's a layer of indulgent cheese fondue in between the barbecue and egg.

Last on the list is the Date Night Sizzling Steak Bun—essentially a steak meal, just as romantic, but more portable. It starts with a bed of sweet corn kernels (for an added crunch), followed by a generous layer of creamy mashed potato that does the heavy lifting (literally), as it carries the heap of smoky Vito’s BBQ and crispy fried garlic bits on top.

Among the three new flavors, they really took into consideration different types of BBQ eaters. If you're the type to always pair smoky meats with something tangy, there's the Seoul-Search Samgyupsal Bun (which is personally my favorite of the three). Should you want something on the sweeter side to go with savory food, go for the 24/7 Good Vibers Silog Bun; and if you want an option that's as close to a BBQ-rice combination as possible but just a touch fancier, go for the Date Night Sizzling Steak Bun.
