(SPOT.ph) If your love of coffee goes beyond your dependency to keep yourself awake (and sane), bring out your calendar, stat, and save the dates for Coffee Plz. This is an upcoming two-day festival bringing together standout local and international coffee brands, with a dedicated lane for matcha lovers, industry talks from seasoned pros, and a marketplace to help you finally build that dream home coffee setup. At the heart of the fest? The highly anticipated Philippine AeroPress Championship.
Expect a caffeine-fueled weekend, paired with bites from favorites like Rebel Bakehouse, Baker on East, and Scratch—plus live music to keep the energy up. Bonus: A special artist will be performing on July 12 at 8 p.m.

Matcha is one of the strongest trends right now, and thankfully for those who both love coffee and matcha, there's more than enough space in the industry to grow simultaneously. Coffee Plz will be welcoming four matcha merchants: Jacque and Matcha, Jacob's Well Chai, The Matcha Co., and matcha mama (which landed a spot in our Top 10 Matcha Latte list!).

How to drink your way through Coffee Plz (minus the palpitations)
If you want to try more than one drink but you're scared you will end up having palpitations after more than one or five full serving portions of coffee and matcha, don't worry—you don't need to take out your emergency stash of antacid just yet. Coffee Plz has thought this through with their Coffee Plz Festival Kit (P780, discounted from P980), designed for curious but cautious caffeine lovers. The kit includes a festival map, a “passport” (which also serves as a raffle entry), a reusable sampling cup with a neck lanyard, and tasting tokens (worth P50 each) you can use to sample drinks.
Here’s how it works: flash your cute little cup, hand over the tokens (price may vary across merchants), and you’ll get a sample pour of whatever drink has caught your eye—be it coffee, matcha, or a wildcard: a dirty matcha for those who want the best of both worlds. If you run out of tokens, you can buy more at P50 per piece.
Sampled something you love and want the full-sized version? Or just want to skip the sample and commit to a full cup? Go for it. Merchants will be serving full portions too—no tokens required, just pay directly. Oh, and leave your cash at home. Coffee Plz is 100% cashless, with all merchants equipped with Maya terminals that accept card payments and QR code scans. Do bring your Maya Black Credit Card if you have one (or bring someone who owns one) because cardholders get 5x Maya Miles for Coffee Plz transactions.

The café has been hosting the Philippine AeroPress Championship for as long as it’s been around (11 years, if you’re counting). This year’s edition is shaping up to be the most intense one yet, with a record-breaking 123 competitors grinding, brewing, and pressing their way to AeroPress glory—and a shot at the World Championship happening this December 5 and 6 in Seoul, Korea.

Also to take place at Coffee Plz is a series of talks and workshops, led by seasoned professionals in the coffee and hospitality industry. These sessions are geared toward café owners, restaurateurs, and operators looking to elevate their customer experience, and will tackle one of the most overlooked yet essential elements of running an F&B business: service
Three key speakers will break down "service" at different levels. Louis Daniel Selorio of Crema and Cream Coffee Roasters (and the 2023 Philippine Brewers Cup Champion) will focus on the barista-to-customer interaction. Tracy Wei, F&B and hospitality consultant at Outsider Hospitality, will offer insights from an owner or operator’s perspective. Meanwhile, Rod Allen Luz, Head of Training at Yardstick Coffee, will zoom out to discuss service on a broader, industry-wide scale.
