(SPOT.ph) Another serving of Hikiniku to Come's crowd-favorite charcoal-grilled patties is headed to Metro Manila. The beloved Japanese restaurant, which popularized the "on-the-rice" hamburg concept, will open a new branch at SM Megamall, giving more Filipinos access to its famous “juicy inside, perfectly grilled on the outside” hamburg steaks.

Hikiniku to Come Brings its Famed Hamburg Concept to SM Megamall

A year after opening its first Philippine branch, Hikiniku to Come is gearing up for another expansion. The restaurant credited with popularizing the now-iconic "on-the-rice" hamburg concept is slated to open a new branch at Level 3 of SM Megamall's Mega Fashion Hall, with doors set to open in September 2026. The update was shared through a Facebook post of SM Megamall, much to the excitement of fans eager for another spot to enjoy the Japanese brand’s signature offerings.

Founded in Tokyo in 2020, Hikiniku to Come helped turn the "on-the-rice" hamburg concept into one of Japan's most talked-about dining experiences. Every morning, the restaurant starts with 100% fresh beef that is ground in-store under strict temperature and timing controls. Each patty is then hand-shaped and grilled over charcoal right in front of diners before being served with freshly cooked rice prepared in a traditional hagama pot. Every step of the process is carefully designed with one goal in mind: delivering the ultimate hamburg steak experience.

To further elevate every bite, Hikiniku to Come offers six signature house-made condiments to complement its hamburg steaks. Diners can customize their meal with soy sauce, salted lemon with green chili, oil-marinated green chili, Japanese pepper sauce, fried garlic flakes, and Mou's Xinjiang spice mix, creating a different flavor experience with each bite.

Hikiniku to Come's dining concept is built around the idea that hamburg steaks are best enjoyed straight off the grill. As such, its restaurants typically feature counter seating encircling the grill station, giving diners a front-row view of the cooking process while ensuring each patty is served at its freshest. We can likely expect a similar setup at the upcoming SM Megamall branch.

Hikiniku to Come, through Standard Hospitality Group—the same company behind other well-loved Japanese dining concepts such as Yabu, Ippudo, and Kiwami—opened its first branch in Uptown Mall in Bonifacio Global City, in October 2025. The BGC branch was Hikiniku to Come’s largest location in the world.
