Jollibee Group to Acquire Korea's Shabu All Day Hot Pot Chain

(SPOT.ph) Ironic as it sounds, coming from a tropical country that's hot and humid 365 days a year, we do have a lot of hot pot restaurants in Metro Manila and beyond. Clearly, there's a market for it, most likely for its unlimited promise and because soup has always been part of Filipino's directory of comfort food.

So, if you're the type to always be looking for new hot pot spots, here's one to manifest a Philippine debut: Jollibee Foods Corporation announced that its subsidiary, Jolli‑K Co., Ltd., will fully acquire All Day Fresh Co., Ltd., the operator of Korea’s famous hot pot chain, Shabu All Day.

After acquiring Compose Coffee, the Jollibee Group continues to expand its Chinese and Korean food brand portfolio by fully acquiring All Day Fresh's Shabu All Day restaurant. This is a famous hot pot brand known for its unlimited hot pot, premium beef, an extensive selection of side dishes, sweet desserts, and alcoholic beverages.

Shabu All Day is ranked first in store count among hot pot chains, with 169 branches across South Korea—a number that’s poised to grow even further with the acquisition. There's no official word yet on a Philippine debut, but between two soup lovers, we’re already daydreaming with chopsticks in hand and rehearsing the first sip, slurp, and "aaahhh!"
