Lugang Cafe Wants You to End Your XLB Feast With More XLB—The Dessert Kind

(SPOT.ph) While there’s no unlimited dim sum promo at Lugang Cafe this holiday season—unless there's some Christmas miracle or a last-minute plot twist—there is still a very good reason to go. The Taiwanese restaurant has expanded its xiao long bao lineup, and this time, it’s less of a soup dumpling and more of a dessert bomb. Enter two new flavors: Chocolate Xiao Long Bao and Salted Egg Custard Xiao Long Bao.

This is the part where xiao long bao stops being polite and starts being dessert. The Chocolate Xiao Long Bao comes wrapped in a chocolate-infused skin that, once pinched or bitten into, gives way to warm, molten chocolate. Then there’s the Salted Egg Custard Xiao Long Bao, which features a yellow-tinted dumpling skin filled with an addictive sweet-salty custard made with salted egg.

Neither of these dumplings requires a dipping sauce, just dessert space after eating all the other xiao long bao and dim sum. That, and timing matters too, because these are best eaten fresh, steaming, and straight out of the basket.
