(SPOT.ph) From making landfall as a super typhoon in Dinalungan, Aurora on November 9, Typhoon Uwan (a.k.a. Fung-Wong) has downgraded into a typhoon early today. Until the coast is clear, your best bet is to stay indoors if you’re in a safe area. But if you happen to be out and in need of a place to take shelter, Mama Lou's has your back with a free serving of soup to boot.

Free food and shelter at Mama Lou's Italian Kitchen
Mama Lou’s showed their care for the community by keeping their doors open and offering food to those in need when Typhoon Carina hit in 2024, and they’re doing it again now. The Italian restaurant chain is handing out bowls of Zuppa di Maccheroni (macaroni soup) to all visitors. Save for the Skyranch, Tagaytay branch, all stores are open today, November 10, Mama Lou's confirms to SPOT.ph.
"In times like these, comfort and care mean everything," Mama Lou's writes on Facebook. "Stay safe, check on your loved ones, and let’s look out for one another." Of course, this isn't the first time they took the initiative to help others out; you might also recall when they held a buy-one, get-one deal on a their tomato confit pasta dish to help farmers in light of the overharvest of tomatoes in the Cordillera region in 2024.
Founded by Malou and Richard Tremblay, Mama Lou's Italian Kitchen is a restaurant chain that began as a small, family-owned restaurant at BF Homes in 2010. They've since expanded and currently have 30 stores open across Luzon, allowing their approachable Italian fare to reach more diners in the country.
