Mama Lou's Helps Farmers With Tomato Oversupply With B1T1 Tomato Confit Pasta

(SPOT.ph) There are only a few ways that we can help farmers who have an oversupply of their produce, and one of those few ways is to buy from them directly instead of the worst-case scenario of the farmers throwing the produce away. In the case of the overharvest of tomatoes in the Cordillera region, Mama Lou's Hospitality Group ordered one ton of these fresh, sweet, tangy cherry tomatoes and made a tomato confit to sell in bottles. They're also using this in their pasta promo featuring the Cherry Tomato Margherita Pasta.

Mama Lou's Italian Kitchen helps local farmers with their Cherry Tomato Margherita Pasta promo:

Starting July 5, diners can enjoy a buy-one, take-one promo on the newly introduced Cherry Tomato Margherita Pasta for only P550 at Mama Lou's Italian Kitchen. This drool-worthy pasta dish features their own roasted cherry tomato confit, infused with aromatics such as garlic, basil, and a hint of chili to layer in flavors on top of the tomatoes' natural sweetness and tang. 

But if you want to whip up your own dishes using the tomato confit, you can as Mama Lou's sells bottles of these tomato confits at the following prices: P265/ 8-ounce, P375/21-ounce, and P550/32-ounce bottle. Some ideas you can use the tomato confit are: Use it on sourdough (or any bread) and add your favorite cheese, toss it with roasted vegetables, add it to your sinigang, or make your own version of tomato-based pasta at home. The possibilities are endless for anyone who loves tomatoes, really.

Mama Lou's has pledged to buy a ton of cherry tomatoes per week, amounting to four tons per month, for a more long-term commitment to support the farmers and to incorporate local produce into their dishes.
